News and Winning Achievements of 2008

April 15th – Both Jadehanna Alexavier (Big Al) and Jadehanna Chief Santana (Blue) are under contract to be sold. They will have wonderful new homes and have great careers ahead of them! It will be VERY sad to see them go but I have the reassurance of the knowledgeable people they are going to. Gracie (Moths filly) will be retained and I have yet to decide on Cassius. If the right person and situation comes along then I will think about it, but I’m so attached to him, we’ll see.

Ranlan Madame Sword Dance is 309 days today and filling her udder nicely! She will be in the stall by day 320 unless she decides to rush things along. She is in foal to our *Danaway Ali and I’m very excited to see this foal – it will be AWESOME!!!

April 11th – The vet came today and confirmed 2 mares that we bred PREGNANT!! One is an outside mare and the other has been a wonderful lesson horse for us. Anduril Tos is an Arabian mare that has been bred to our Miracle the Chief, it was found that she had twins so the vet had to pinch on off due to the high risk it puts on the mares and foals by carrying twins. She will be re ultra-sounded in about 10 days and then return home to her owner.

Moth has also been bred back to our *Springbourne Eldorado and we will wait 16-19 days to see if she is cooking a baby for us for 2009, so we will keep you updated.

April 2nd – At 5.20pm this afternoon, Casi presented us with a beautiful palomino COLT foal. This is the first foal for Casi and Casper and we couldn’t be more happy! She didn’t seem to worry that we were all still at the barn feeding when her water broke and as she laid down, feet appeared. This little colt is just awesome, I would say one of the best I’ve bred! We have given him a barn name of “Cassius” and his registered name will be “Jadehanna’s Golden Legacy”. He may be for sale, but I’m still thinking that one over because he has stolen my heart already! Our guests, Lisa, Pat & Bill all got to see the birth and Thanks to Bill who named him Cassius! His photos and video can be seen on the 2008 Foals Born page. Check back for his professional photos at the end of April.

March 1st – We finally have a new name for Moth’s new filly foal, we have decided to give her a barn name of “GRACIE”. She most definitely looks like a Gracie and we are working on a registered name for her as we speak, as well as a registered name for Matches foal, Blue. All 3 foals are doing very well and have graduated to the main (large) paddock where they share their space with other mares and a gelding and they all seem to be getting on well and enjoying the large space! I will try and get more pics of them and post them periodically.

If you have a chance please stop by Gracie’s page via the 2008 Foals Born page and take a look at not only her photos but her video, this was so expertly done by Suzy/Equine Originals, you will need sound and WARNING – you will need some tissues LOL.

Our next mare to foal is Jadehanna El Diosa aka “Casi” (310 days), she is in foal to our Section A cremello stallion, Wildwynn Legacy aka “Casper”. This foal will have a 100% chance of being palomino but we are taking predictions for colt or filly, so if you haven’t got a prediction right yet, here is your chance for a 50/50 shot! Her prediction page will be up any day now. We noticed today that she is starting to “V” out, this is when the baby turns to get into the birthing position. The V’ing can take from 1-3 days or more, and then the foal is usually guaranteed 7-10 days after she comes out of her “V” shape. So seeing as it is March 1st, she seems to be dead on schedule for an early foal (before 330 days), rather than a later one (330-340 days). So we will be cleaning her stall in about a week ready for her to be on cam, then foalwatch begins again. We are watching her carefully all the time because she is a maiden mare (first time Mum). Being a maiden mare, they sometimes aren’t sure what is going on, so we need to be there to keep an eye on her to help her through it. I am hoping that she will be on cam by next weekend!!

February 28th – At 5am this morning we had our 3rd foal arrive at Jadehanna Ranch. *Springbourne Eldorado and Madoc Gypsy Moth presented us with a beautiful PALOMINO Section C FILLY! We are SO happy and still on cloud 9. Moth did a wonderful job and popped the li’l girl out so quickly, and the bonding soon began. She pooped, drank and was running around all within the hour, so we were very pleased about that!

I want to THANK Randy Bullard for letting us lease Moth and I am ecstatic to announce that he is letting her stay on with us for a repeat breeding. SO THANK U so much Randy, we really appreciate it! SO, this will more than likely be my only foal due next year, and we can’t wait to see the 2009 version!

February 23nd - *Updated Sales Page*

February 22nd – Well, Matches and her new colt seem do be doing very well! He is bouncing around the stall and enjoying being outside with Big Al and Lexi. We don’t have a registered Jadehanna name as yet BUT we do finally have a barn name of “BLUE”! If you take a look at the new photos taken at 1 day old, you will see why! So, we are still looking for Indian Chief names, you can email all suggestions to jhranch@cfl.rr.com and we may well just pick your name for this li’l guy! He will be back on cam as soon as Moth foals!

In regards to Moth, she is now 327 days along and it has been 9-10 days since she V’d out, so we are hoping for a foal by the time the weekend is over! She is becoming restless at night but still eating me out of house and stall!! She is on 24/7 watch now, so if you want to join in and chat with us on the Message Board, now is a good time! Fingers crossed for a healthy foal very soon!

February 19th – This morning at 5.15am, Matches at 327 days delivered us a beautiful bay sabino/splash colt foal. He is absolutely awesome, and has 2 long back socks, with a small front one and wait for it, yes, a blue eye! So, he has kept up Matches tradition and kept that line going of the splash gene. Laurie (Matches owner) was able to watch avidly on cam and be able to see this handsome boy enter the World! This foal will belong to Jadehanna Ranch and Matches will be returning home (NY) in August bred to Ali, so Laurie can have a Matches foal of her own in 2009! Photos on his page will be up soon, so let the name suggesting begin!

Moth is at 324 days and has a major jello butt, so hopefully not too much longer for her, I’ll be keeping an eye on her and Salem and 24/7 watch has begun for her! So stay tuned!!!

February 18th – Matches seems to be acting a bit strange today. She is walking around the pasture quite aimlessly and not quite sure what to do next. We will be watching her closely tonight as her udder and teats are very hard and she was off her food for an hour or so and then ate like crazy – and it seems to be out of character. Also, Salem was on her wall tonight, so a foal could be coming very soon! Now is a good time for any ponycam watchers to start watching – 24/7 watch has been going on for about a week now – so hopefully not too much longer!

February 8th – Well, we had a totally awesome time at the Fair today! Ruth did an absolutely amazing job with the narrating throughout the whole 3 hours and she did so well working with the kids and horses, and we covered everything during the time we had. Rebekah also did very well, and she coped with the “all eyes on her” as she opened the demonstration up with Astari Primadonna and a dressage lesson with Ruth and finishing that segment with a Training Level 2 test. Then we went onto a beginner lesson (totaling 30 minutes) with Megan on Cali for the 30 minutes, Alyssa and Yasmine with 15 minutes each on Oreo and Alynda and Yanese with again 15 minutes each on Anduril. Although the children were very nervous facing the crowd for the first time ever, they all did so well and not only controlling their nerves but their ponies too, all throughout the lesson. Then we went onto the horse breaking and training segment, this is where Ruth showed the audience within 30 minutes the process of breaking and training, from the ground to the saddle. She used Lovey (Zip Drive Love), this is the mare who gave birth to Polly last year. Lovey has had 3 weeks training from the ground up and very nicely walk/ trot and cantered Ruth around the arena by the end of the demonstration. We decided to use Lovey because she has been doing so well that it was a great experience for her to get out and see the crowd with banners and generally the noise of an indoor arena was a good experience for her. Then we had the mare and foal demonstration. Here we let Lexi and Big Al loose in the arena so people could see up close a foal that is under a month old. Big Al loved his debut and put on quite the show, we then held him at the rails where kids and adults could come up and pet him, I think he found his way into many hearts today! We then continued the demonstration with the games on horseback segment. This girls had the same amount of time in the saddle as the lesson and they showed the crowed how to do the egg and spoon race and a cones race where walking and trotting was used, they had great fun! Then lastly to finish the demonstration Ruth gave Rebekah a jumping lesson on Astari Primadonna, this segment really increased the crowd and both Rebekah and Prima didn’t disappoint with the jumping experience. Prima isn’t really a jumping horse but did her very best for Rebekah!! So we did put on a good mixture of subjects to cover and we got great reviews back, which was wonderful to hear. There are many people to mention and “Thank” so here we go: THANKS to Ruth and Rebekah for not only getting the horses ready but for working so hard with the kids and horses to be able to achieve this demonstration in a week! Also to Terry, Kathie, Terry, Dean, Gran for helping us organize everything, driving trailers and keeping things running (amongst many other jobs that were done). Also to Russ and Eric for bringing their panels to be able to put Lexi and Big Al in there so they had room to move around, and for helping us set up jumps etc. Then to Gary & Kelly for completely re-doing our display board, it looked so awesome to be able to have some of our wonderful photos on there to represent the Ranch and Riding Center. Also to the parents of the girls who allowed them time off school and be with us to be able to carry out the “kids” demo’s, they all did a great job and I’m sure you are as proud of them as we are! Also to Holly, who has managed to keep things going at the Ranch in regards to feeding etc, so we haven’t had to worry about that when we got home, and lastly to Randy Bateman, who without him this would never have happened, Thanks Randy for giving us the opportunity for letting us put ourselves out there – we appreciate it! SO THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR HELPING US ACHIEVE THIS!!!! (and apology’s if I missed anyone).

An update of Rebekah’s first show will be posted Sunday!

Also Matches will be in the stall from Tuesday, this will be her 320 day mark, Moth may be slightly ahead of her so we will double check their udders Tuesday morning for the final decision on who will go into the first foaling stall!

February 5th – Today we went to visit the KVLS – Silver Spurs Arena, this is where we will be doing a demonstration on Friday Feb 8th, for 3 hours on English riding lessons, promoting the new Riding School and of course Jadehanna Ranch! It was a lovely arena and there will be plenty of room for the kids to ride and also a good bit of room for our display board. The people and horses attending the demo will be: Horses – Cali, Lovey, Prima, Ginger, Anduril and 2 very special guests of Lexi and Big Al! I’m sure he will love the attention of all the fair spectators on Friday. Then for “people”, we will have Ruth (our trainer/instructor), Rebekah, Megan, Alyssa, Alynda, Yasmine & Yanese. All of these girls have done so well in their lessons recently that they have really earned the special field trip to the fair. The helpers will include myself, Kathie, Terry, Dean, Terry, Connie, Russ, Eric and also my grandmother who is visiting from the UK. We will be covering a beginner lesson, show jumping and dressage with a short display of Lexi and Big Al, prancing around the arena, so we should have a great time! We still have lots to be done, but it’s an exciting time to not only be able to attend the fair, but to have been asked to put on the demonstration, so we feel very privileged! So, I will post an update as soon as we get back.

Also on February 9th, Kathie, Terry and many others will be helping to run the Food Booths at the Fair, so good luck to you all. ALSO Rebekah has her first horse show on February 10th, it is a horse show at the fair that she will be attending on her own horse Lady. She has had many lessons with Ruth and they look ready to go!!! So, we want to wish her the best of luck and we will all be there cheering you on – GOOD LUCK REBKAH & LADY!!!

Matches & Moth will hopefully be in their stalls within a week or so. They are still filling their udders and depending who is fuller, will depend on who will go into the Cam 1 stall first. Moth looks to be slightly ahead of Matches but Matches was bred a week earlier so she could take Moth over at any time – so the race is on!!!

February 2nd – HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGAN!!!!! Have a wonderful birthday, we are so proud of you!

January 25th – Matches seems to be building her udder well now. We will have the stall cleaning party for the 4hr’s for her team and Moth’s on February 2nd. The stall will be thoroughly cleaned with Novalsan disinfectant and then bedded down with shavings for them until they are close, which is when we will switch to straw. Now, Matches is scheduled to foal first but you never know with these girls. Matches is a maiden mare which means this is her first baby so she may prolong things nearer to her 340 due date which is March 3rd, and Moth may well foal earlier because she has had several foals before so we will be watching both very carefully. They will each have a 12 x 24 stall and if Moth looks to go first we will just move the camera to her stall but the cam will mainly be on Matches until we see that we need to change it. Matches foal is by our Miracle the Chief and Moths foal will be by our wonderful *Springbourne Eldorado, both foals will be eligible to be registered as Section C’s – and these 2 foals will be our very first homebred Sections C’s so we are very excited about them arriving!!

January 22nd – Our new colt has finally got a name, THANKS to Kristi (one of out Ponycam watchers) he will be called JADEHANNA ALEXAVIER (sounded Alex-avier) aka “AL”. He is already being called “Big Al” due to his size, so I have no doubt that will stick!! He is filling out really nice and I will get some updated pics soon for you all to see.

January 21st – Today was a busy day for Lexi and her new son. They had many visitors including Alynda Alejandro who is the Team Leader for the Adopt-A-Mare Project. She, her sister and her friend all enjoyed seeing the li’l guy and took many photos. I think Lexi found it tiring and as for the colt, well, he slept through it all!! They will have lots of down time together now and will be turned out in the field to relax.

The vet also came to see them and gave then both a clean bill of health!!!

January 20th – Well, our first foal has finally arrived!!!! After 10 days of heavy watching, 334 days pregnant and dripping milk this evening, Wyvere Alexandra decided to have her foal tonight! She foaled at 11pm and had a very handsome PALOMINO COLT. He was up and running around in no time. He is huge, and has nice heavy bone with the most perfect markings - a tidy blaze and 2 back white socks, very nice! He has the most cutest pony head, and he is going to be quite a stunner! You can see him via the 2008 FOALS BORN page, he has a few pics on there and more will be added very soon! THANKS to everyone who watched Lexi along with us, the extra eyes are always needed, and the constant chat on the board was wonderful to see – friendships have been formed and I’m sure you are all looking forward to the next 5 mares to foal!!

January 16th – Lexi is 330 days today and still looking really fed up and STILL pregnant. I can’t believe she is still hanging in there. She is getting slab sided and so ready to have this foal. She is still eating me out of house and stall and she seems to have a thing she does where she stands dead still. We have called it the Lady Liberty stance! I think she tricks us into thinking our cams are frozen, when all she is doing is just standing there. I’m hoping not too much longer for her until she shows us her foal, because she is getting very tired now!

January 11th – Lexi is 325 days today and looking like she has had enough, she is still eating very well and is getting an extremely full udder, so we are watching her carefully.

January 1stHAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!!!

We have quite a full year coming up. First of all we have our mares due to foal from January through to July, we have 6 is total. During this foaling season we have included our 4H’rs. We introduced the Adopt-A-Mare Project, this is where the kids are put into teams and they follow that mare through their pregnancy up until they give birth. They are encouraged to foalwatch via our ponycam, get involved on the message board and learn where that can ask questions all about the pregnancy and birth process. They can visit their chosen mare and also the new foal when he/she arrives, take photos and a table top board will be produced by that team at the end of the foaling season to be voted on by the parents – it is a great project that the kids are very excited about. Unfortunately one of our mares slipped her foal so Team Emma is now Team Maddie. Here are the teams listed below:

TEAM LEXI (Wyvere Alexandra due Jan 6th – Jan 26th) – Alynda Alejandro (Leader), Megan Lacey-Freeman, Serena Cardoso.

TEAM MATCHES (Brynayre Royal Match due Feb 12th – Mar 3rd) – Hannah Cardoso (Leader), Alyssa Alejandro, Claire Littell, Jennica Kobur

TEAM MOTH (Madoc Gypsy Moth due Feb 15th – Mar 6th) – Brittney Foster (Leader), Jessica Cardoso, Alannah Jones

TEAM CASI (Jadehanna El Diosa due Mar 11th – Mar 31st) – Yanese Arevalo (Leader), Yasmine Arevalo, Arissa Mattu, Kanzis Mattu

TEAM MADDIE (Ranlan Madame Sword Dance due April 26th – May 16th) – Mary Littell (Leader), Rebekah Stought, Lael Littell

TEAM PRIMA Reserve Mare (Astari Primadonna due June 12th – July 2nd)

The responsibility of the LEADER will be to call the rest of their team when foaling is imminent! So you will need to keep cell phones by beds and you need to wake up if we call, and hopefully no-one will miss it. It is a very exciting time and we are pleased we can share it with as many people that we can!

We are also working hard on getting ready to build our new Riding School, which is located right opposite the Ranch. This is going to be a wonderful place for the kids to come and take lessons on all disciplines under great instruction! So we’ll keep you posted on that progress.

2008 will also bring our new website for Jadehanna Ranch and also Pleasant Hill Riding Center, so that is something to look forward to. Equine Originals are a very experienced company who is doing a great job on re-vamping the new websites. I do want to THANK John and Tina for putting so much hard work into this website and doing the constant updates so quickly – so THANK YOU both so much!

So a busy year forward but we are very excited about all the new foals that will be arriving and please check in with us as much as you can, hopefully the News page will be kept very busy!!!
