News and Winning Achievements of 2007
December 28th – We have some AWESOME news, we have just been emailed to say that our very own *Springbourne Eldorado has been one of the six chosen from many submitted Section A ponies to have a special edition painting done by a great painter here in the USA named Tamara Canner. Also, to make things even better he will be accompanied in the painting by our beautiful Section A mare *Thorncliffe Princess and our truly awesome homebred colt Jadehanna El Diablo!!! BUT not only do we get a “family portrait” done of all 3 of them together BUT they will also be on special edition note cards that can be bought by everyone!!! We are so excited and hope that you will all join us in buying these wonderful note cards when they become available. We will let you know as soon as the painting is completed and the cards are available for purchase.
December 27th – We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and have their plans underway for great New Year!
It has been quite hectic at the Ranch, what with preparing for foaling and keeping the horses healthy and happy. Our expectant mares are getting larger by the day and Lexi will be back on New Years Day!! Yes, January 1st is the first day of countdown!!! So get your sleep whilst you can.
We did have some great news today – I received a certificate from the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America (WPCSA) saying that not only did Jadehanna El Diablo aka “Buddy” come 8th NATIONALLY he also came 3rd in HIGH SCORE AWARD for the Section A colts for the South Central Region of America!!! So, we are extremely happy and proud our Buddy Boy and wish him and Suzan the best of luck showing next year. I am going to do my best and attend some of these shows to see him and take photos of him for you all, I know you all miss him as much as I do!
Please all remember to email jhranch@cfl.rr.com me your prediction for Lexi – time will run out fast when she gets here and settles to foal and we will need to know before she foals to see who will guess the right gender and color!
Also I need name suggestions, her foal will of course have our Jadehanna prefix and I would like an “A” name with an “X” in it if possible, colt and filly names needed – PLEASE!!! I am stumped with this foal already!
December 23rd – You may notice on the cam that the rubber mats are now down in preparation for Lexi moving into the foaling barn. She was checked today and has the startings of an udder developing, but nothing to panic about just yet! She is wobbling A LOT as she walks and will be up to her 2 feeds per day when she arrives. She will also have a hay roll to tuck into during the day. We may initially put shavings down first then transfer to straw, it all depends on how she moves things along! She will be out during the day and will be in with the lights on at night, so we can stat watching her sleeping habits, so not long to countdown!! Don’t forget to email me on jhranch@cfl.rr.com your predictions for her foal!
December 22nd – We had an awesome day today. We held a “Tinsel Ride” for the 4Hr’s and some of the riding school students. We arranged 2 sessions, the first in the morning between 10-12am and the second session between 2-4pm in the afternoon. We had 5 students on both rides with Rebekah as “Miss Claus” and our beautiful chestnut Arabian mare Astari Primadonna as “Rudolph”. The students could come and dress up the ponies and horses with tinsel and the ride was about an hour long around the neighborhood. Neighbors came out to see the 6 horses going along the road, it was very festive with the Christmas carols playing and the tinsel sparkling. It was such a nice day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!!
December 19th – HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY BETHANY!!!
December 18th – The Ponycam is now LIVE!!!! The screen is a lot clearer and so much easier to watch. You can also watch through the Windows Media Player also, and you can get full screen via that – but you do lose a bit of quality having the full screen. Lexi’s bed will go down just after Christmas and then she will be back just before New Year!!! Foal watch for her will officially begin on January 6th when she is 320 days pregnant!!
December 14th – It looks like the final results are in for the Welsh Pony & Cob Society National Standings!!! Our very own Jadehanna El Diablo aka “Buddy” finished 8th NATIONALLY for Section A Colts and Miracle the Chief also finished 8th NATIONALLY for Section C Stallions – WOOHOO!!! So, I want to THANK Suzan Stevens for showing Buddy this year for me. He has done so well for her and seeing as she only really had him half of the year it was quite the achievement! Also I want to THANK Jennifer Sullivan for showing Chief whilst she was here, he too performed well for her and his standings were through only 2 shows!! SO, I am very proud of my boys right now – hopefully they will do just as well next year.
The ponycam part has been installed and we should be back LIVE by THIS AFTERNOON!!!!
December 13th – We have good news!!! Finally our Ponycam part has arrived and will be installed before the stall cleaning party on Saturday! I have everything crossed that it will work straight away and there will hopefully not be too much tweaking! You will see myself, Kathie, Megan (Daughter), Serena Cardoso and Alynda Alejandro all working away in there. It will be from 1-2pm Florida time, so that is 6-7pm UK time. So, come along and join us and have a chat on the message board whilst you watch us work!! Not long to countdown!!
December 6th – Thanks to John & Tina we now have some website updates done. So, check out the new 2008 FOALS DUE page to see who is bred to who and when their foaling dates are. Then we have the chart for the due dates via a link at the top of the 2008 Foals Due page, here all new foals will be posted, and also we have the new details on the PONYCAM page. We also now have the new list for Lexi’s predictions, so email what you think she may have on jhranch@cfl.rr.com!
The camera part should be here in a few days, so not long until the cams are LIVE!!!
December 5th –
Today we had Jadehanna
Allouette’s DNA test results back and it has been confirmed that
she is in fact a SMOKY BLACK!!!! So, she carries the dilute gene
just like her sire *Danaway Ali, so she should be able to
produce palomino’s & buckskins etc – which is very exciting!
Also if she carries on looking like her father she is going to
be quite the stunner!
The final camera part should be arriving within 5 days so as
soon as it does it will be fitted and the Ponycam should be up
and running. Lexi will be back to the foaling barn within a week
or two, she is wobbling very well! As soon as we hit January all
eyes will be on her and the cams and they won’t come off until
July <<<YAWN>>> so make sure you all catch up on sleep now! At
the moment the cams will remain on this older website and we
will only swap things over to the new one when she has foaled.
We don’t want any problems whilst we are watching and miss the
birth.
November 24th
– It’s not too long now before Lexi
comes back to settle into the foaling barn, she is 277 days
today! She is in foal to our wonderful smoky black stallion *Danaway
Ali, this will be his second foal and her third. The cams will
be switched on soon and no doubt you will see me with 3 of the
4H’rs scrubbing the stall for a stall cleaning/Pizza party.
We’ll then put her straw bed down nearer her time so she will be
in at night and will be watched 24 hours. She can foal anywhere
from January 6th – January 26th, and all of her changes will be
noted on the Message Board and this News Page. If the new
website will be up then we also have a blog on there that I will
do and there is a facility for you all to ask questions, so we
will be doing that also.
Chat night is going well. We are going to have to bring the
times forward to 3-4pm Florida time, because we have to be out
before dark to feed and put the horses to bed. Lisa and Sophie
are regulars on there now and they are our top 2 ponycammers, so
they can always answer questions for you if I’m not around. Even
thought the times are between 3-4pm at the moment you are all
welcome to still go on there whenever you can. As soon as Lexi
gets closer it will become most nights which is always great fun
and a really great buzz!
Also I will have Lexi’s prediction page up soon, so you can all
be a part of that. Due to the amount of people now making
predictions, no prizes will be given out but you will be first
to get a foal photo emailed to you and a CONGRATULATIONS on this
News Page! So we hope you are all getting a lot of sleep because
foal season is just around the corner!!!
November 22nd – HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!
November 14th, 15th, 16th – Today
(14th) Sally and David Waters arrived to take our professional
photos over 3 days. We had many taken including updated photos
of *Danaway Ali, Pearl and her foal Alli (who was born in
August), Cali, and some new horses including, Dash, Dolly, Ghost
and Oreo. We were also very pleased to see many of our students
turn up for some photos taken in a lesson and also many took
advantage of some with Anduril, who has been our best lesson
horse and the foundation to our new Pleasant Hill Riding School.
Anduril will be leaving to go back home in the New Year,
hopefully in foal to Miracle the Chief. So, as soon as I
download the photos, they will be posted on both the new
Jadehanna and Pleasant Hill Riding Center websites and the links
to see those will be posted soon!
I do want to take the opportunity the THANK some people for
helping us achieve these wonderful photos, Holly for all the
bathing, grooming and continuation of the running of the two
Ranches throughout, Rebekah who also helped bath, groom and was
a big part of the photos, Kathie for constantly mucking in where
she was needed, Terry for feeding us throughout the whole 3
days, Dean for feeding me at night, Megan who was also a huge
part of the photos and of course all of the kids who you will
see on the new PHRC website AND of course to Sally & David, who
are not only great photographers but also awesome friends! –
THANK YOU ALL!!!
October 18th - I have just been emailed some video footage of Jadehanna El Diablo aka “Buddy” from the Central Nationals in Tulsa, OK. This was in the Champion Colt class where he received Reserve Champion Junior Colt by both judges. He is growing into a very handsome boy and so much like his daddy *Springbourne Eldorado! So take a look at our boy in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdY6w-PjA5M
Wyvere Alexandra aka “Lexi” is our first mare to foal in 2008 and she is 239 days today! She is getting quite the mammas pouch and making the most of pregnancy. I will be bringing her back to the foaling barn at around her 300 day mark which will be about December 17th-20th, this is when she will be on cam. Her stall with then be scrubbed by the kids in her Team (Alynda, Megan and Serna) and we will put her straw bed down at around 310 days. You will see the kids in her stall at certain intervals checking her over and taking photos, so I’ll get them to give you all a wave when they are in there.
Not long now until Sally and David Waters come out. They have been taking photos of our horses over the last few years and been doing a great job. They will be taking updated photos of the foals and some of the lessons horses and also lots of photos of the kids in their lessons, so I’ll share them with you when I get them. This time of year things slow down at the Ranch, which is nice, well, at least until December!!
October 9th – Our new Jadehanna website is well under way and should be up and ready in a month or so. It will look totally different to what we have right now but will of course still have the same information on. It will also have blogs and forums that you can all chat on and ask questions-it should be really nice!
Also running along side this website will be our Pleasant Hill Riding Center site. This again will have a lot of information on and again the blogs and forums. We will also be having a page on there for our new 4H Club. We now have 17 children that have joined this wonderful club so far, the 4H is actually a National/County club that we can set up individually, ours is of course named Pleasant Hill 4H Club! Saturday was our last meeting and we had our election for our 2007/2008 Officers and here they are:
PRESIDENT – Rebekah Stought
VICE PRESIDENT – Alyssa Alejandro
TREASURER – Jessica Cardoso
SECRETARY – Mary Littell
REPORTER – Brittney Foster
SEARGEANT AT ARMS – Jennica Kober
HISTORIAN – Claire Littell / Hannah Cardoso
COUNCIL DELEGATE (1) – Rebekah Stought
COUNCIL DELEGATE (2) – Serena Cardoso
COUNCIL DELEGATE (3) – Megan Lacey-Freeman
SO, I want to WELCOME and CONGRATULATE our new Officers, I’m sure you will do a grand job! You may also recognize some of these names on the Message Board. Everyone in the 4H Group will be taking part in individual projects and we announced a very special project at the meeting. It is called ADOPT-A-MARE Project. In this project 5 groups will follow 5 mares from their 300th day of pregnancy through to foaling. We will cover all aspects of changes and the children will be a huge part of that. They will also (hopefully) be able to experience the Live birth on the cam. They have been encouraged to ask questions on the Message Board and we will also have a “Chat Night” more than likely on Sundays where they can find out information on the Ranch, Riding School and mares, from myself and others. The first Chat Night will be on SUNDAY OCTOBER 14TH – 4.30-5.30PM, so mark it in your diaries. Each new date and time will be emailed to each 4H’r and posted on here. Then at the beginning of April, each group will get together with their projects and produce a Group Project that will be presented to the parents at the May 2008 4H meeting, here awards will be presented to each group! So we have a lot of work to do! Here are the groups and the mares they picked in order of foaling dates, at the meeting:
TEAM LEXI (Wyvere Alexandra due Jan 6th – Jan 26th) – Alynda Alejandro (Leader), Megan Lacey-Freeman, Serena Cardoso.
TEAM MATCHES (Brynayre Royal Match due Feb 12th – Mar 3rd) – Hannah Cardoso (Leader), Alyssa Alejandro, Claire Littell, Jennica Kobur
TEAM EMMA (Ranlan Empress due Feb 14th – Mar 5th) – Mary Littell (Leader), Rebekah Stought, Lael Littell
TEAM MOTH (Madoc Gypsy Moth due Feb 15th – Mar 6th) – Brittney Foster (Leader), Jessica Cardoso, Alannah Jones
TEAM CASI (Jadehanna El Diosa due Mar 11th – Mar 31st) – Yanese Arevalo (Leader), Yasmine Arevalo, Arissa Mattu, Kanzis Mattu
The responsibility of the LEADER will be to call the rest of their team when foaling is imminant! So you will need to keep cell phones by beds and you need to wake up if we call, and hopefully no-one will miss it J. It is a very exciting time and we are pleased we can share it with as many people that we can!
October 2nd – I have some great news
from the WPCSA Central Nationals in Tulsa! Our very own Jadehanna El
Diablo aka “Buddy” won his class which was Section A colts 2 & under,
under both Judges THEN went on to win RESERVE CHAMPION JR COLT!!! WOOHOO!!
This is a huge show and for us it was extra special because he was our
very first home bred Jadehanna baby representing us. He also was entered
into the Costume class dressed as the devil, which I am waiting to here
the results on. I want to THANK Suzan Stevens and Amy for preparing,
taking, showing, caring and loving him for me, I miss him terribly. He
will be attending the SWA WPCSA Gold show held in GA on October
19th-21st and he will also attend the WPCSA Gold show in TX. Suzan has
also agreed to keep Buddy in training over the winter and prepare him
for the 2008 show season where he will make his debut in the driving
classes as well as halter! I should have the pics soon from this last
show, as soon as I do, I will post them!
September 24th – We have some sad news -
unfortunately our Instructor/Trainer Lindsay Rudd will be leaving us mid
October. Her husband has been offered a good job opportunity in Indiana,
so they will be moving up there for him to be able to do that. We have
loved having Lindsay and her family here and will miss her, she has been
a real asset to the Ranch and lesson program but no doubt you will see
her on the message board during foaling season. We wish them all the
best!
SO, we are looking for a new Instructor/Trainer & Equine Handler, all
applicants can email resumes along with pics of themselves to me at
jhranch@cfl.rr.com. We will be short listing September 30th and
interviewing the week after.
We have weaned our 4th foal today. Jadehanna El Dulce aka “Pippi” is now
going it alone. She was weaning herself anyway, seeing as she is a real
socialite so Puff can now recuperate and Pippi is now in the pasture
playing with the other foals. Jadehanna El Durazno aka “Bentley” will be
next in a couple of weeks and then Jadehanna Kupids Kream aka “Polly”
will follow closely behind. All are absolutely beautiful foals and I am
very attached to them, it has been a good year for us on the baby front!
Jadehanna Allouette aka “Alli” is doing really well. What a beautiful
well put together foal she is! I will try and get some more pics of her
but she doesn’t seem to stand still long enough for me to take them – so
I’m banking on Sally and David to get some nice ones when they come out
in November.
Wyvere Alexandra is now nearly into her 8 month of pregnancy and looking
blooming. She is our first 2008 mare to foal and she is in foal to our
smoky black stallion *Danaway Ali – I’m looking forward to this one!!!
Our new Jadehanna Ranch website is gradually getting there. I need to work on updates and hopefully it shouldn’t be too much longer, the wait is killing me!
September 8th – Miracle the Chief, Lindsay and I all attended an Open Show today at Clarcona Horseman’s Park in Apopka. We entered him into 5 classes and he was a VERY well behaved boy! Here are his results:
1st – Hunter Under Saddle – Junior Horse – 19 and over
2nd – Hunter Hack 2’3 – 19 and over
2nd – Hunter Over Fences 2’3 – 19 and over
3rd – Hunter Under Saddle – 19 and over
5th – Open Schooling – Open
August 30th
– We have our new name for Pearl X Ali’s
new filly, drum roll please….JADEHANNA ALLOUETTE (as in the song).
This name seems to really suit her and we have managed to find her
an “A” name finally! Her barn name will be either Ally or Annie, we
aren’t totally sure on that yet, but I think we will lean more
toward Ally. This isn’t our traditionally “P” names that we have had
this year but we couldn’t think of any for her. She is really
growing nicely now and doesn’t have much medication left now but she
is doing great! She has a beautiful small cob head and so in
proportion, I am extremely pleased with her. THANKS to Randy Bullard
for leasing her to me for this breeding, it is still undecided on
whether she will be bred back to Ali for Randy when Pearl returns
home to Missouri when we wean the baby – so watch this space.
I will be working on the 2008 Foals Due Page and the Planned
Breeding page for 2008, so hopefully that will be added soon!
August 26th
– Pearl and her new filly foal are doing
really well. At first she had to be bottle fed the first day because
she couldn’t get the hang of nursing, but by the evening she made up
for lost time. Then the next morning just to be on the safe side
Dr.Walter took some blood from the foal to do an IGG test to see if
the baby received enough colostrum from Pearl. The test came back
that it was a little bit low so he automatically put her on anti-biotics
for 7 days to make sure her immunity had been built up enough for
her. She doesn’t like the medicine but she is taking it well. She
seems a very laid back foal and filling out so nicely, I can’t wait
for Sally & David Waters to take some photos of her in November! At
the moment this li’l girl will be retained, so you will all see more
of her for quite a while. We have had problems naming her because I
wanted to give Ali’s babies all “A” names after him, so if you can
think of any email me on jhranch@cfl.rr.com, don’t forget that she
has to have the JADEHANNA prefix in front of it.
THE RESULTS ARE IN!!! *Danaway Ali is officially verified by Animal
Genetics in Tallahassee, FL that he is indeed a SMOKY BLACK! His
color markers are:
Red Factor – Ee
Agouti – aa
Cream - nCr
So basically he can sire black, chestnut, palomino & smoky black
(these of course don’t include the dam’s genetics). I really think
the new filly is a smoky black and I’ll be getting her tested very
soon! So we are very excited to finally learn this and looking
forward to his 2008 foals!!!
August 17th – UPDATE - We had quite a surprise here at Jadehanna Ranch this morning! Pearl at 325 days decided to deliver her baby early for us, she has an AWESOME smoky black (we think) FILLY by her side! She is an absolute stunner, she looks just like Ali in the face, with nearly the exact same blaze, and 1 ½ small white back feet with white hooves just like Pearl’s, so between them they did made a great baby for their first foal!!!! She needs to fill out a little bit because she is early and she is still trying to find the milk bar, but she’ll get there. So I will take pics and post them soon…SORRY to all the ponycammers waiting to see the birth, she really took us by surprise as she didn’t show any untoward signs last night, but that’s foaling for you. We have 6 due next year so there will be a lot to look forward to! THANKS to everyone who has stuck by us during this foaling season and we will keep the updates flowing through the rest of the year!
August 15th – Today our cams are well under way on getting finished. Due to Pearl being so close to foaling we have decided to just rig up the existing cam that we have already to get a clearer picture. We may be able to get the 2nd one up, so if Pearl foals and switches her butt to a different corner we should be able to click channels at the house and get the view we all you want you to get – so fingers crossed that hopefully that will get done. I will send out an email to let everyone know once things are sorted out. So, if I don’t have your email please let me know on jhranch@cfl.rr.com so I can add you to the list of Ponycammers. I know we do have some new Ponycammers that are from our Riding School side so please welcome them when they log on to the board.
Pearl is at 323 days today and has a large udder. I am just waiting for the teats to get fuller before I will be on 24/7 foal watch. She has V’d out and leveling her belly, so baby is well on his/her way in getting into position. You will see on cam that she has rubbed her mane due to the bugs over here. Although she is under a fan all the time some do still get to her, poor thing. I will be pleased when this is over for her now. SO please all keep an eye on the NEWS and MESSAGE BOARD for regular updates – not long now!!!
Lindsay and Aubri are doing a great job! Horses are going under saddle and are moving along with their training. The help has been wonderful and they both lift the place with the energy they have! So you may well see them on cam also very soon.
We have now weaned our 2nd and 3rd foals Barnaby and Penny from Honey and Little Lexie. It was a little bit early for Penny because I like to wean at 5-6 months but both foals were dragging their Mums down a bit due to them constantly feeding so we made the decision to wean them together. Both are doing very well and are in a pasture with Phoebe and the other mares and foals, so all was well. Pippi. Bentley and Polly are all still too young but I think they are enjoying the extra foals out there to play with! I have now downloaded a little bit of video of each of them (apart from Pippi & Phoebe) and you can see them here :

August 12th - Today has been a very sad day at Jadehanna Ranch. My beautiful Thoroughbred x Welsh mare Kyrie Elesion was put down this morning. She unfortunately was foundering (and we weren’t sure what caused it) and not improving at all. She is a lovely mare that I bought as a foal in the UK. I broke her and she had the best temperament. She wasn’t able to come to the USA with me because she was a fairly high strung horse and I decided reluctantly that it was better for her to stay there. So, as she was staying a very good friend of mine Helen Alderton who is a Trainer/Instructor took on the care of Kyrie for me. She continued her training and showed her in Open Shows with great success and loved her as much as I did – which is all I asked. Helen did all she can for Kyrie in the last couple of months but the Laminitis sadly won and now Helen is left without her Best Equine Friend! This was such a beautiful, kind mare and our hearts are just sunk with the loss of her. My only comfort is that she was SO well looked after and that my Best Equine Friend, Joss, would have met her at the Rainbow Bridge to escort her to greener pastures and I know that she is galloping and frolicking with him right now. You were wonderful Kyrie and continue to be, and give Joss a kiss from me!!! We will all meet again someday XO. Rest in Peace, Kyrie.
August 1st – Today Pearl will be returning from the lush pasture that she has been on to the foaling barn. She is 309 days today and we want to make sure she is getting all of her Mare & Foal grain with supplements before she foals. She will be in the 12 x 24 stall on the shavings bed for a week or so and then it will be changed to her straw. She will have regular turnout during the day and be in at night until she gets closer to foaling. By staying in at night I get to keep an eye on her night patterns and this tells me if her regular pattern changes near foaling. She is on the “old” cam because we are still waiting on cabling and the other cameras, so we will have to make do until all that arrives which may not be before she foals. Her PREDICTION page has now been posted and you can email me your predictions on jhranch@cfl.rr.com. So, keep watching her and I’ll be posting regular updates and I’ll be on the MESSAGE BOARD as much as possible!
July 26th – We had our final mare checked the other day, it was our oldest mare (22yrs) *Rosmel Cream Puff and she showed that she wasn’t pregnant. We had a feeling that she wasn’t and trying to get her bred last year was hard enough due to re-occurring problems that she had. So, she has now been officially retired of breeding and will live out her days here. She does have her beautiful palomino filly Jadehanna El Dulce aka Pippi to carry on Puff’s wonderful bloodline and legacy for us, so that is our bonus! So our final count next year of foals due will be 6 – they are listed for the final time below:
Wyvere Alexandra (Lexi) x *Danaway Ali – Jan 6th – 26th 2008 – Section D foal
Brynayre Royal Match (Matches) x Miracle the Chief – Feb 12th – Mar 3rd 2008 – Section C foal
Ranlan Empress (Emma) x *Danaway Ali – Feb 14th – Mar 5th 2008 – Section D foal
Madoc Gypsy Moth (Moth) x *Springbourne Eldorado – Feb 15th – Mar 6th 2008 – Section C foal
Jadehanna El Diosa (Casi) x Wildwynn Legacy - Mar 11th – Mar 31st 2008 – Section A foal
Ranlan Madame Sword Dance (Maddie) x *Danaway Ali - Apr 26th – May 16th 2008 – Section D foal
UNOFRTUNATELY Buddy will not be attending the show in Indiana this weekend. His buddies that he was traveling with caught a bad cold at the last show in Texas and Buddy has symptoms too. So, plan B is to attend a Double Gold Show in Ohio on August 10th & 11th, so send him Get Well wishes so he can try and get to the next one.
TODAY Lisa arrives – WOOHOO!!! She will be here for 2 weeks and will be able to update her photos with new baby pics. She was here soon after Penny was born so she will meet for the first time, Bentley, Polly and Pippi! I have no doubt she will get some foal smoochies in on her visit. She will also have time to relax and get her “foal and Welsh pony fix”. She will also get to see and prepare Pearl for her birth before she leaves, so she can update you all on the message board on how HUGE this mare is! Not long now!!!
July 19th -
Well, our first foal of 2007 has now been weaned! Phoebe (Jadehanna M’Lady
Carwen) is now going solo. She has Ginger, Bentley, Lovey and Polly to have
as company which will be nice for her. I’m sure she’ll enjoy some foal
frolicking with the other 2 babies. She and Megan have taken the parting
well, so that is good. Megan will now start back in her training and Lindsay
will break her to go under saddle.
Puff and Pippi will stay over at the main facility at the moment until we
get her ultra-sound done next week. If she is pregnant she will stay around
here with us so we can administer her regumate (medication for her to help
the pregnancy) each day, but if she doesn’t show up in foal she will join
Ginger and Lovey at their new lush pasture! Fingers crossed that she is on
foal!!
Canto (Jadehanna El Encanto) and Magic (Jadehanna Magic Dragon) will also be
coming back to the main facility to start their training under saddle. We
are hoping both will be used for the lesson program once they have completed
their training – although Canto will still be up for sale.
Big Lexi (Wyvere Alexandra) is now into her 5th month of pregnancy, so she
will get her first Rhinobort shot next week. I can’t believe how fast the
time has gone, before we know it January will be here!
Pearl will be back next week! Her udder is getting extremely full, so we
want to make sure she is watched carefully. I also want to make sure she
gets all of her supplements and some good food inside her ready for birth.
She has loved being out in her new pasture due to all the grass we have but
it’s nearly time to get down to business, Pearl!!! The cams (I’m hoping)
will be up and ready for you all to see a nice clear birth on the World Wide
Web! I will update more when we bring her back to the foaling barn, but get
ready Ponycammers, not long now!!!!
July 14th – Today Buddy attended his first out of State show in Texas with Suzan Stevens. Apparently he traveled like a seasoned traveler, and was very well behaved. He bathed really well in the wash racks next to Suzan’s Welsh Section B and throughout the whole time didn’t act studdish at all, which is really good for a 2yr old colt who bred his first mare before leaving. Anyway, it was a Double Gold show which means in his class he had 2 judges and he could potentially earn lots of points. He entered the ring very well, stood up really good in the ring for the Judges and did his trot perfectly!!! So under one of the judges she placed him 1st and then he went onto win Junior Champion Colt !!!! I have to get the other results from the other judge but this one judge really liked him and she was in fact the judge who pinned him Junior Champion Colt at 6 months of age in Gulfport, Mississippi. So we are very proud of our Buddy here at home. The best thing for me though was that Suzan tells me that both he and Suzan are bonding and that really pleased me. To know that he is working so well for her in a situation and environment that he hasn’t been used to makes me so proud of him. He is after all only 2yrs old and we haven’t tried hard this year to condition him, because as you know it was kind of a last minute decision to put him into the Show World on the Welsh Circuit, so I am VERY happy to hear he was a good boy. His next show is in 2 weeks time at the Heartland Welsh Show, again a Double Gold Show and this one will be in Rochester, Indiana. So please keep your fingers crossed for him and send positive thoughts his and Suzan’s way! GO BUDDY GO!!!
July 4th – HAPPY JULY 4TH to all of our USA clients, friends and ponycam watchers!
Things are going well here, horses and ponies are back in training and doing well, students are extremely happy with their lessons and Lindsay is doing an awesome job with the kids. They seem to have really taken to her and are having some FUN! Aubri is doing great with taking care of the horses and ponies and all are looking great and happy!
Buddy (Jadehanna El Diablo) is doing very well in Mississippi with Suzan and getting ready for his show next week. He is being very well behaved and Suzan is working with him in a surcingle and long lines so he will be a lot more educated when he comes home. If he continues to do well he will more than likely stay with Suzan (if she’ll have him) to go and drive next year in the show ring – so watch this space!
I am SO pleased with the foals we have on the ground so far. I must get photos of Jadehanna El Dulce (Pippi), Jadehanna El Durazno (Bentley) and Jadehanna Kupid’s Kream (Polly) because they look so adorable out there together. They play and run and really are enjoying each others company. Jadehanna El Demario (Barnaby) and Jadehanna Casino Royal (Penny) are out together and again seem to get on so well, whilst Phoebe is out with Megan (her dam) and Asti and Snowy and they seem a good group. Phoebe will be weaned soon and Megan will go into training to go under saddle. ALL the foals are SO friendly and are all halter broke, I really am pleased with them all.
Not long until Pearl comes back to the foaling barn! She will return August 1st and be prepared for foaling – I can’t wait to see what she produces with Ali. I am still hoping the cams will be up and running then!
Also, I will be updating our FOR SALE page soon, taking some off and adding some so keep an eye out for that – all prices are negotiable to good homes!
Puff also had her ultra-sound but checked not in foal. SO as Buddy Boy isn’t here due to going off and showing, she will be bred back to Eldorado. Puff will be flushed and we will do exactly the same we did with Maddie due to Puff’s history of needing some preparation work before being bred. If she doesn’t fall pregnant this time, then I think Puff has more than earned her retirement! So finger crossed.
OTHER NEWS - Daisy is back in training! She has had plenty of time off to recover from the colic surgery and miscarriage so back to work she goes. Hopefully she will be used for the lesson program and continue to teach kids to ride. She is back to her old self and seems raring to go!
SO, a quick update on who we have due next year and when:
Wyvere Alexandra (Lexi) x *Danaway Ali – Jan 6th – 26th 2008 – Section D foal
Brynayre Royal Match (Matches) x Miracle the Chief – Feb 12th – Mar 3rd 2008 – Section C foal
Ranlan Empress (Emma) x *Danaway Ali – Feb 14th – Mar 5th 2008 – Section D foal
Madoc Gypsy Moth (Moth) x *Springbourne Eldorado – Feb 15th – Mar 6th 2008 – Section C foal
Jadehanna El Diosa (Casi) x Wildwynn Legacy - Mar 11th – Mar 31st 2008 – Section A foal
Ranlan Madame Sword Dance (Maddie) x *Danaway Ali - Apr 26th – May 16th 2008 – Section D foal
SO MARK THE DATES IN YOUR CALENDERS PONYCAMMERS!!!
June 20th - We have been very hectic at the Ranch over the last couple of weeks – even without foal watching! Firstly our cams have been started, conduits have been ran underground and they will be making holes in the walls of my house today <gulp> to bring the cabling in. We are still looking into whether the cams we have are sufficient or whether we change them to something else. We are on track to have everything done before Pearl foals in August so it will be SO nice to have a great picture and no freezing or gremlins in the cams – HOORAY!
Lindsay (our new trainer) and Aubri (our new stable/equine handler) have now started working with us. Both are doing so well and the pressure has been taken off on the day to day workings of the Ranch. Training has resumed with Chief, Ali, Emma and many others, so things are once again ticking along, which is great! Mum & Dad (Kathie & Terry) go on vacation on Monday 25th for 3 weeks on a cruise so the extra help is wonderful.
Pearl is getting nice and fat and shall we say blooming! She is 266 days today and making the most of pregnancy. She has had all of her pregnancy vaccinations now and she will be brought over to the foaling barn beginning of August.
We will be ultra sounding our last 2 mares next week. The first being one of the Section D lease mares Ranlan Madame Sword Dance. This will be her 4th time being bred and we did an AI type of breeding on her, even though she had a clean culture we still flushed her after she ovulated to give her uterus a clean environment for baby to hopefully settle, so fingers are firmly crossed that she will fall pregnant – if not she will be returning to her owner in Missouri. The other mare is Rosmel Cream Puff, I decided to breed her to Jadehanna El Diablo aka Buddy, he bred her a couple of times but then had to leave for Mississippi, so hopefully she fell pregnant, if she didn’t she will be bred to Eldorado, and I’m hoping she will take ok due to her age. If she doesn’t, well then, no doubt she will be retired, but again fingers are firmly crossed!!!!
June 13th – Tomorrow I will be taking my favorite baby of all Jadehanna El Diablo (*Springbourne Eldorado x *Thorncliffe Princess) to Mississippi. He won’t be leaving permanently – thankfully, but he is spreading his wings for 5 months in the show ring with Suzan Stevens at Cuesta Ponies. He will be joining Suzan’s 2007 Show String and will be venturing to a total of 5 shows (hopefully) all I think being Gold or Double Gold. The show list does include the American Nationals at Tulsa, Red River Welsh Pony Association Show in Marshall TX, and the SWA Gold Show in GA, where I will collect him and bring him home.
I do have mixed feelings because he is my baby and I love him SO much and I will find it so hard to leave him – although I know he is of course in excellent hands with Suzan. He is looking so nice as a 2yr old and I think he should be in the show ring this year and not sitting in a pasture getting fat. He has also bred his first mare this week, so I’m hoping we will get a little “Diablo” baby next year…if not he has 1 or 2 <wink> lined up for next year! So I am hoping to post some good updates soon about him and I hope he goes out, spreads those wings and thoroughly enjoys himself !!!
As Lovey has now foaled, all hands are on deck to sort out the cams. The cams will be shut down in about a week or so for construction, but I will still try and update the pics of the babies so you don’t miss anything. Lovey and Polly will still be on cam until that happens. They will be out in the paddock part of the day and in at night for a little while.
June 6th – BREAKING NEWS!!! Tonight we had a really bad storm that went over us, of course we didn’t complain because we need the rain BUT it did trip the switch over the barn at around 7.00 - 7.30pm. So I managed to go through the rain and lightening <gulp> and flipped the switch back at the barn. I had a quick check on Lovey at the time and yep, guess what – she was eating! So I got back home and the cam was ok, until about 8.15 - 8.30pm. We had a black screen again and I was getting quite nervous not having my cam working. So once again – now flooded – I waded through the water with it pouring over my boots and rain hammering down on me. Checked the switch and it hadn’t tripped – which was so weird. Of course I had forgotten my cell phone, so again, I checked Lovey and was shocked to find big globs of WAX on her teats!!! It wasn’t there just under an hour ago! So there I was running through the flooded waters, absolutely soaked, panicking that this cam had to be back up and working NOW!!! So we checked a few things out, cam 1 (Gingers) had interference but still worked, but cam 2 (Loveys) was a black screen, so Dean came to the conclusion that maybe a wire had become disconnected. So he went traipsing over to the barn and wiggled a few wires – nothing! He called me at the house as I was sitting at the main computer and was asking me if there was any difference and I said no. So we were figuring out the problem when he said “Caroline, I think you need to come over here, now” So I asked why and Dean said “Lovey has done a long pee and it doesn’t look right, it looks dark” I asked if there was a lot of it and he said “Err, yeah!” And said he was coming straight back. So, I proceeded to get my soggy boots on, thinking that surely her waters have broken, she had only just got her wax. We literally passed each other in the door way, and for the third time headed to the barn in the rain. I got to the barn and looked around discreetly and Lovey was just standing there. Looked again, still standing there and as she turned and looked the other way I put my head right around the stall door and saw 2 hooves! The foal was coming!!!!! So I got the camcorder ready and Lovey was coping really well. Kathie, Terry & Megan all turned up and were all there in support for Lovey. I assisted her to get the head out and after a few more pushes the large foal came out at 9.00pm and the foal sat right up. After a check all was fine, a BIG, BEAUTIFUL PALOMINO FILLY, with a diamond/star on her head just like Lovey. Both laid there for a while and she is the perfect first time mother. She was watching where her feet were, and making slow movements, absolutely perfect! She passed the placenta very quickly, had her banamine and settled straight away. The filly got up very quickly and was bucking and cantering around the stall in no time. She has had a drink and all seems well. Cam 1 is on Lovey and her filly, it isn’t a great reception due to the storm but hopefully you can sort of see them both. So I’m so sorry you all got to miss it but the storm was very bad and we still aren’t sure what has happened to the cam, but at least now it will be sorted out ready for Pearl! Photos coming soon, it is 11.44pm and I’m off to bed!
June 6th – UPDATE – At
4pm check, Lovey now has an extremely full udder. Her teats are full and shiny,
her veins are very popped out, around her tail head has dropped and jelly like
and her vulva has elongated and is a very dark pink. She is also very warm – SO
I am hoping she will foal tonight/tomorrow!
June 5th – Lovey is 342 days today and really
moving things along now. She has a full udder and getting shiny teats which
shows me that she is close. Her vulva is also staying a darker pink and she is
once again getting extremely veiny and has now gone slab sided. I am hoping any
day now and she is on a 24 hour watch between us, so hopefully we’ll catch her
in the act. She is eating constantly, so hopefully she will stop briefly to
foal! STOP, DROP & FOAL LOVEY!!
We had a vet visit today from Dr.Walter, we had a few horses and ponies on the
agenda! Ace was first to go. He has developed a type of growth where his
umbilical cord was, it isn’t a hernia but a growth of some sort. Dr Walter put
him out on the ground and proceeded to cut the growth off, it was about 1 ½
inches wide as well as long. He then stitched him up when Ace decided he wanted
to wake up and get up, so he was topped up with drugs to stay down a little
longer. The growth has now been dropped off at the Laboratory and will be tested
for about a week to decide what exactly it is and if Ace will be ok. The
likelihood of it being sinister is remote due to his age, but still keep Ace in
your thoughts for his recovery process, and that we get some good results back!
Then we had Casi re-ultra sounded because about 10 days ago she was a bit
poorly. For about 4 days her temperature fluctuated and she was off her food.
With medication that I gave her she soon bounced back but as she had no
outwardly signs of a snotty nose etc I wanted to get her re-checked just in case
she was aborting. Anyway, the good news is, is that she is still pregnant with a
healthy baby who has a wonderful beating heart – so all is well!
Puff and Maddie (Ranlan Madame Sword Dance) were both lutalysed to quick cycle
them today, which means they should both be breedable within 1 week. They are
the only two left to breed this year. We are going with an AI route with Maddie
and Ali, bred once and flushed to make sure all is well and a good place for a
baby to settle. So fingers crossed for them. As for Puff I am still very
undecided on who to breed her live cover to, I love what she produced with
Eldorado but I think she would produce something very awesome with Buddy (Jadehanna
El Diablo), Eldorado’s son. So I now have a few days to make a decision EEEK!
Chief unfortunately knocked himself the other day and now has a small haematoma
on his neck so he won’t be going to the show this weekend. Dr.Walter said it
will go down with hosing and medication, so hopefully he will be ok soon!
That’s about it, pretty hectic at the Ranch at the moment, so more updates soon
– GO LOVEY GO!!!!!
June 2nd – We FINALLY have a barn name and registered name for
our new palomino colt foal! Thanks to one of our ponycam watchers Sophie
Chapman, this li’l guy’s barn name will be BENTLEY. Also thanks to Debra Hermann
for the idea of his registered name which will be, drum roll please……JADEHANNA
EL DURAZNO. Durazno in Spanish means “Peach” and his mane is SO peachy in color
it suits him really well. There are also updated “1 day old” pics of Bentley on
his foal page via the 2007 Foals Born/Due link.
Lovey is 339 days today! We are watching her carefully because once again she
thought she was a stunt woman this morning and decided to roll near to the PVC
fence and got cast in it! We managed to get her loose and put her in her stall
where we can watch her. I am sure she is getting desperate and thinking of ways
to get this baby out – I just wish she would take less drastic routes LOL! Her
udder is nearly full, we still have no wax or dripping so I think it’s likely
this girl will go over, the question is, by how much? So, please all help to
keep an eye on her, hopefully not to much longer.
As soon as Lovey foals, all hands are on deck to sort out the cams. We will be
adding 2 more cameras in the barn, so all 4 stalls will be covered. I will be
able to see all 4 at my house and there will be 2 available to see on the
website. The 2 current cams will be re-mounted to get a better view of the
stalls. As we are hardwiring the color and clarity of the cams should be so much
better for everyone and any interference should stop. Also any server or cable
issues will finally be rectified! This will all be done by the time Pearl foals,
so the cams will be down soon after Loveys decides to foal, and I will then keep
everyone updated on the progress, but you will all see Pearl on cam – I promise
that!
We are also taking this time to rebuild our current Jadehanna Ranch website and
build our Pleasant Hill Riding Center website. We have a new company here in the
USA who will be working on this over the next 8 weeks. The whole look and colors
will change on the website, so hopefully you’ll all like it. If there is
anything you all think we can improve on or make navigating better please email
me on jhranch@cfl.rr.com and we will pass on any comments to the new company. If
anyone is interested in looking at the company here is their link
www.equineoriginals.com We will be basing our new websites along the lines of
the Fox Creek Farm website that they have done. It will have the flash photos,
videos, 2 x cams, blogs as well as all we have now!
So, I just want to take this opportunity to THANK John & Tina Veall for all of
their hard work in the past 6 years on my website. I think they’ll agree it has
grown SO much and becoming a lot of work. They have offered to continue to do
updates for me until the new website is up and running – THANK U J & T!!!!
May 31st - At 1am this morning on a full moon, Ginger delivered me a most handsome Half Welsh PALOMINO colt. He has a beautiful blaze and as far as I can see at the moment 2 hind whites. He was on his feet quickly and found this milk bar by himself. We did have a problem afterwards with Ginger because she decided to retain her placenta. Now if you leave the placentas in for more than 4 hours it can turn the mare septic and be fatal. So my wonderful vet Dr. Walter came out and after 1 hour managed to get the placenta out in one piece. Ginger will be on anti-biotics for 10 days as a precaution. I will also be leaving her in for a couple of days for her to re-cooperate. She absolutely loves this baby so much, as we do!!!!! We need a name for this li’l guy! He was going to be called Jadehanna Ginger Ninja because I thought he would be chestnut but as he is a pally we have to re-think things. He will also be given a “B” Barn name, so we need to think of that also. CLICK HERE FOR THE PHOTO’S and maybe you can pick a name that suits him!
Lovey is moving things along so I am still watching her carefully. She laid down last night with a lot of moaning and groaning an I thought I had a double whammy on my hands, but luckily we didn’t – phew! So after a day or two the cam will be on her, and she is the last until August.
After Lovey foals, 2 more cams will go into the barn and everything is getting hardwired so the picture you get now will be SO much better! The cams will be down during this time so I’ll give you plenty of notice.
May 30th –
Ginger is 337 days today and finally doing something….her udder is full now,
she has extremely bulbous teats, swollen legs, elongated vulva that is now
going a darker pink, which is exactly what we want. I have no idea how long
she has left but she really cannot go on any longer – surely! She is getting
depressed now so the sooner she foals the better it will be for her.
Lovey is 335 days today. Her udder isn’t full, I would say past the ¾ mark
but being a maiden I’m hoping she will wax and drip like the other to give
me a bit of an idea on time frame. She is catching up on Ginger so we’ll see
who wins the race! She is in good spirits, but I am still monitoring her
during the day and on and off during the night.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to WELCOME Lindsay Rudd to our
team here at Jadehanna Ranch/Pleasant Hill Riding Center!! She is our new
Instructor/Trainer and we have no doubt that she will do an awesome job
here. She has been extremely successful showing Western and has many other
accomplishments in English and Western through her students winning many top
awards. She has also excelled in running Summer Camps and 4H Clubs. Within
her job here she will also be working with the current School Horses,
assisting breeding and of course working with our Jadehanna Ranch stallions,
so I am excited about that! She will be starting around June 16th/17th after
her planned vacation visiting with her family. You can also catch up with
her on our Message Board!!
We would also like to WELCOME to Jadehanna Ranch/Pleasant Hill Riding Center
a very good friend of Lindsay’s. Her name is Aubri and she will be starting
at the same time as Lindsay in June. She will be taking on the feeding,
cleaning stalls, keeping the barn squeaky clean, assisting in lessons,
riding school horses and the list goes on! I am sure you will both be a
great asset to our business, and we are looking forward to working with you
both!
May 22nd - Ginger is 329 days and Lovey is 327 days TODAY! Ginger has come out of her “V”ing, positioned baby and moving things along quickly. Her udder is just about full and her teats are extremely full. I think it is a matter of within a couple of days now – unless she is going to draaaaag things out like Honey did – let’s hope not though! She is eating less and less and not moving around too much, very, very quiet and showing signs on and off. I am watching her during the night and she will more than likely stay in during the day now for us all to watch. If she starts pacing a lot and rolling and you don’t see me in the stall OR on the message board, call me – all emergency numbers are on the message board.
Lovey is doing well. She isn’t that far behind but probably has a good week or so behind Ginger. Her udder is nearly full and she too has slowed down, but not as much as Ginger. Further updates will be posted on her as soon as I see more development on her.
THANK YOU to all the people who emailed me name suggestions for Ginger and Loveys’ foals, keep them coming in, we have a list that we add them to and if we don’t use them for these foals, I’m sure there will be another one come along that the name would suit perfectly!
We are looking for volunteers to come and help with the horses, in cleaning, feeding and riding. So if there are any teens out there that have free time in the Summer, give us a call on 407 518 7442 or 407 361 7388. ALL people under 18 will need a signed permission slip from their parents and transport to and from the Ranch.
We are also looking for a new Instructor/Trainer. This person must be a team player and committed to the job. Will be required to teach kids and adults from beginner to advanced, break and train the horses and stallions, have an opportunity to compete and be a part of the breeding and foaling program if they wish. A live in position in required in one of the two properties, and we offer benefits. So please either call one of the phone numbers above or email me on jhranch@cfl.rr.com for more information.
May 18th – We have FINALLY decided on a name for “Pippi”, it will be
JADEHANNA EL DULCE, meaning “The Sweet”. This was a name we picked out for her
before she was born and she still deserves this name PLUS she is very sweet! It
also keeps with the cake/sweet theme of Rosmel Cream Puff for her dam Puff and
the Spanish theme for her sire *Springbourne Eldorado, so we have best of both
worlds. She is continuing to thrive and do very well!
Ginger has officially “V’d” out. This is when the foal is positioning and
getting ready to be born, and the reason it is called this is because her belly
goes down into a point which makes her look like a V shape. Her udder is
continuing to fill very well! Lovey isn’t far behind her. Her udder is ¾ filled
and she is pushing things along. Both are in the foaling stalls at night now and
will be on cam. I have Ginger on cam more often that Lovey because she looks
closer to foaling but things can change very quickly! Will update more soon and
keep your eyes peeled on those girls!
May 17th – Ginger and Lovey will be in their foaling stalls from TONIGHT!
Both are pushing things along. Ginger is V’ing out and should be 7-10 days MAX
if not before. Both have large udders and working on completing their cooking!
They will be on cam and I’ll be leaving the lights on so you can all monitor
them for me. THE RACE IS ON!!!
May 15th – UPDATE - The due dates for 5 of our confirmed expectant mares
due in 2008. By the looks of it we won’t be getting any sleep at all between
January-March next year. So mark them on your 2008 calendars!
Lexi (Wyvere Alexandra) x *Danaway Ali – DUE Jan 6th –
26th 2008
Matches (Brynayre Royal Match) x Miracle the Chief – DUE
Feb 12th – Mar 3rd 2008
Emma (Ranlan Empress) x *Danaway Ali – DUE Feb 14th – Mar
5th 2008
Moth (Madoc Gypsy Moth) x *Springbourne Eldorado – DUE Feb
15th – Mar 6th 2008
Casi (Jadehanna El Diosa) x Wildwynn Legacy – DUE Mar 11th
– 31st 2008
I have 1 x Section D mare to be ultra-sounded next week for (hopefully)
pregnancy, and the vet also confirmed that Puff is more than fit and well to be
re-bred if we like. SO we will more than likely breed her to Jadehanna El Diablo
aka “Buddy” on hr 30 day heat cycle!!!
May 14th - BOTH Ginger and Lovey are moving things along now. Ginger is 321 days today and Lovey is 319 days today. Both are getting nice sized udders! We will be scrubbing both Puff and Allie’s foaling stalls this week and moving these two in by this weekend to be on cam. At the moment I have no idea who will go first, Lovey is a maiden and may decide to drag things out but all the mares apart from Honey have gone before their 340 day mark so eyes need to be kept on both of them. Then after these two we have a rest before Pearl in August, although we are still accepting mares in for clients to foal them out for them, so you never know we may have one or two more! THANKS PONYCAM WATCHERS!
May 12th – In the early hours of 2.15am this morning “Allie” the tobiano paint mare that came to us for foaling finally foaled a beautiful solid bay filly foal named “Faith”. She paced for several hours before getting down to business and she was extremely tired and her filly was quite large for a first foal. Allie then colicked afterwards so we gave her medication and after a long rest in the stall she did ok. She accepted her filly straight away and was so good with baby feeding, no problems at all. Both will be with us for a little longer and then be returning home with their owners.
May 7th – Well it was quite an eventful day and
night! Puff seemed to be having some sort of discomfort during the day and was
galloping the fence line and was not happy at all – Puff hasn’t galloped in
years LOL! So I brought her back into her stall where she continued to pace, paw
the ground and be generally looking like she was in labor and then after an hour
stopped! The only real difference I could see was that her udder was fairly
full, her teats were ready, vulva was a darker pink but no poppy veins or
anything and no other outwardly discomfort signs. So Dean and I (reluctantly)
went to go out as planned with friends and just after the appetizer at 8pm I
received a call from my Mum (Kathie) saying that Puff was rolling. I left the
restaurant, deserting husband and friends, and sped home to find that she was in
fact in labor. She had a hard time pushing the foals head out so I assisted her
and the baby then slipped straight out at 8.30pm. She had a beautiful palomino
filly, with a nice blaze and on her back legs she had 2 long white stockings! On
checking the new girl over we found that she regrettably has a twisted nose.
This is a condition called Deviated Rostral Maxilla….wry nose. She had no
problems breathing and seemed ok in all other ways. This is caused in the uterus
by lying in the wrong position. She was more than likely leaning up against
Puff’s pelvic bone and didn’t move so the bone just fused that way. It is
extremely rare, but does happen. She found the milk bar but couldn’t latch on,
so we called the vet and we milked Puff and fed the foal with a syringe in two
lots. We then did a 12.30am and 4am check and by then she had latched on and was
feeding herself. This little girl will never be a show pony but she will be an
awesome broodmare with all the Champion bloodlines she has in her. We do have an
option on surgery which we are still looking into but she has a lovely little
personality and is very special already in her own little way. So we need to
think of some names. Her barn name maybe “Pippi” after Pippi Longstockings after
the tough little storybook child with her cheeky character and very long
stockings! So, we either need an “EL …..” name or I will consider any others,
but it will have Jadehanna in front of it. I am hoping she continues to do well,
she deserves to already!
Thanks to all my PONYCAM watchers for following along with Puff’s story and
outcome..Photos here
May 6th -
Today is Puff’s day 332. She has increased quite a bit in udder size over night.
She is very relaxed on the back end and moving things along now. She is getting
quite depressed and she is HUGE! So I hope she doesn’t go on for ever, I feel
quite sorry for her now. She definitely has the beach ball effect going on and
I’ll try to post some pics of her at some stage. So we are on countdown and with
the other mare due at the same time – NO SLEEP FOR US!!
May 4th –
Today Puff has hit her 330 days mark and going strong. She is still working on
her bag and doing a good job of it. I still think she will go up to and maybe
over her 340 day mark, so we’ll see! She is doing really well although looking
very fed up. I am watching her carefully, she doesn’t seem to be laying down a
lot so she MUST be tired!
Also on Monday the mare that is coming to foal out with us will be arriving. She
is a big Paint mare and she is around 329 days today. She is a maiden mare and
her bag is getting quite full, so her stall will be scrubbed the weekend and
sterilized and her straw put down. She will be on cam also and the cam will
switch from stall to stall so we can watch both her and Puff. So multiple
foalwatching is in order!!
Ginger and Lovey are pushing things along so I’m hoping they hold out for Puff
and the other mare to foal, we’ll see!
All the professional pics should be emailed to John & Tina this weekend to load
on the website for me, so it will obviously take them a few days but you are all
going to love them!

Unfortunately our
trainer/instructor Jennifer Sullivan is unable continue her role as Resident
Trainer with us due to personal reasons. Her last day will be May 15th
and we wish her continued success in the Equine Industry. We are now open to
receive resumes and all chosen applicants will be interviewed within these next
2 weeks.
We also have our intern starting on May 8th who’s name is Jennifer Jardina. She will learn a great deal here and we will enjoy having her around to assist in lessons, training, foaling, breeding etc!
April 30th – Puff is on day 326 today. She is moving things along at her own pace and doing well. I am still continuing to monitor her during the day and night. She has udder development, but she isn’t full. Will update more soon!
April 29th - Today we went to the Pony Palooza Show in Gainesville. This was a WPCSA/SWA Bronze Show/Open Show for all Welsh, Mountain & Moorland ponies. We took Miracle the Chief, Jadehanna Calibaloo (Cali) & Brynayre Royal Match (Matches), we also had Ranlan Duchess and Gayfields Skate on Katie on board our trailer, so we had a full load. Katie and Duchess were going to be returned to their owners so their journey starts back home now with friends of ours. Cali & Matches did well throughout the day, they were extremely well behaved ALL DAY and were a pleasure to take. They had two girls riding them who hadn’t done so before and both ponies tried their very best and had a great day! Chief also did very well, he was 3rd in halter, and we are pleased we entered him for this because it was his first halter class with us and we now know what to brush up on for the next one. His Performance classes were awesome. He had 8 in the English Pleasure classes and the classes come in a 3 class division (so he entered all 3) – He won 2 x 1st’s and 1 x 2nd and then OVERALL ENGLISH PLEASURE CHAMPION!!!! Both he and Jen did a fabulous job!! He then went on to win the 2 cross rail jump classes so he had a really great day. This boy keeps astounding me and making me proud – what a boy!!! Our next show may be in May and/or we have a 2 day show on June 9th & 10th.
April 27th
– I have managed to get time to calculate the due dates for 4 of our
confirmed expectant mares due in 2008. By the looks of it we won’t be
getting any sleep at all between January-March next year. So mark them
on your 2008 calendars!
Lexi (Wyvere Alexandra) x *Danaway Ali – DUE Jan
6th – 26th 2008
Matches (Brynayre Royal Match) x Miracle the Chief – DUE
Feb 12th – Mar 3rd 2008
Emma (Ranlan Empress) x *Danaway Ali – DUE Feb
14th – Mar 5th 2008
Moth (Madoc Gypsy Moth) x *Springbourne Eldorado – DUE
Feb 15th – Mar 6th 2008
We are breeding 2 other mares as we speak, 1 Section A and 1 Section D,
so it will be another month before any confirmations are done on those.
Puff is moving things along. I think she is definitely enjoying the
comforts of the Penthouse Suite! It wouldn’t surprise me if she went all
the way to 340 days, but I am still watching her each night to monitor
her behavior and to make sure she doesn’t sneak that baby out! The vet
saw her today and said how good she was looking, so I’m happy! More
updates soon.
April 25th - Today Puff is 321 days. Her udder is about 1/2 - 3/4 full and she looks like she is trying to “V” out and position the baby. She seems to be ok in herself and getting ready for baby. Her stall has been scrubbed and we will be bedding her straw down today and from tonight she will “officially” be on foalwatch. Depending on how things have moved along today, will be whether I leave her lights on at night or not. I more than likely will because she sneaked Magic into the world and I don’t want that to happen again. So I need all your help to start watching her and call me if anything concerns you at all, I will also hopefully be on the message board a lot more towards the end of the evening here in the USA. If anyone has any predictions on color and gender of the foal please email on jhranch@cfl.rr.com in plenty of time so we are able to post it. Not long now before our next Jadehanna baby arrives!!!
Our photo shoots are nearly coming to an end. Today is the final day in which riding photos will be taken. We have many liberty, conformation, head shots and jumping pics to post of the stallions, mare & foals, and some of the others. You will be amazed by the photos, they are so awesome this year, I’m very excited for you all to see them. A HUGE THANKS to our good friends Sally and David Waters (Horsepix) for taking them and for being SO patient, we had a great time and we’ll see you in November!
April 21st – We attended the Open Show in Apopka that is ran by the
Florida POA today. Chief was extremely well behaved and looked very relaxed
and he was taking in the whole show atmosphere. Both he and Jen entered 7
classes and we came home with 3 x 1st, 2 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd and a 4th. The 4th
was in the English Schooling class and there were 9 competitors all
cantering and trotting past Chief and he didn’t even look twice – he made us
very proud! His next show is next week, the 29th in Gainesville. This is a
Mountain & Moorland show combined with a WPCSA/SWA Bronze show, so we are
looking forward to that!
April 17th
–
We had a vet visit today and we have some great news!!!! 3 of our mares
were ultra sounded and we now have 3 more expectant ladies to join
Wyvere Alexandra x *Danaway Ali due in 2008! We have Ranlan Empress
checked
IN FOAL to
*Danaway Ali for a Section D foal. Brynayre Royal Match checked
IN FOAL
to Miracle the Chief for a Section C foal. Then lastly we have Madoc
Gypsy Moth checked
IN FOAL to
*Springbourne Eldorado for a Section C foal!!!! So as you can tell, I’m
very excited, although they will all be due the same time!
We also had Madoc Duchess ultra-sounded but due to her age she just
isn’t cycling well so she will be returned home to Missouri and we are
allowed to keep one of the 4 mares that came with her another year for a
2009 foal. All in all we had a GREAT DAY!!!! One more mare to
ultra-sound in a week or so and one more to breed!
April 15th – EXTRA UPDATE - We have udder development!!!! We checked Puff today and she is building quite a nice sized udder – FINALLY! She obviously liked the thought of her comfy stall and realized it’s time to get down to things, so hopefully we will definitely have more updates soon – I’m getting excited!
April 15th – Today was a good day and bad day! The bad part was that Ima Painted Lark aka “Oscar” was sold and left for his new home, but the good part is that he has left to go to an excellent home, which is SO comforting! He is going to live with Bachman family. Kathryn is 13yrs old and fell in love with Oscar and they gelled as soon as she sat in the saddle, and I have no doubt that he will be so happy there, eating his treats and being loved on everyday. We miss him terribly already but know he is living it up with his new family.
Puff has now been moved to the foaling barn, with NOT a lot of udder development! She is very large, and the baby seems to have moved round now because she has lost her “swallowed a beach ball” effect. I am hoping with her being in stalled during the night and increased feed and hay, we will push things along quicker than she has decided to. She should be on cam by her 320 day mark which is May 24th!
We have a very busy this week! First if all we have the farrier arriving on Monday, to trim at least 10 horses. Tuesday brings the vet, to U/S several mares, Wednesday brings a lot of bathing and clipping of the horses, Thursday & Friday our good friends Sally and David Waters (Horsepix) arrive for the photo shoot of at least 10 of the horses and ponies and Saturday we will be at an Open Horse Show with Chiefy. We are hoping that Sally and David tag along to take some show pics – I’m excited, and let’s hope Sunday brings some sleep!! PHEW!!!
April 12th –
The new PREDICTION PAGES are now up for all 3 of our mares due in May -
PUFF, GINGER & LOVEY!!!! Their color possibilities are on there also, so if
you want to guess the gender and color email me on
jhranch@cfl.rr.com. Let’s see
who is right this time!
Puff will be the first one in the foaling stall in about a week (once we
move Little Lexie and Penny into the reserve foaling stall where Honey &
Barnaby reside at the moment), but Ginger and Lovey aren’t that far behind
her so we may have to stall switch if one pushes ahead. If that is the case,
2 of our Ladies in Waiting will be in both Foaling Stalls to watch
carefully. Puff is first to go, carrying my long awaited foal, so I am on
pins and needles waiting for this one to arrive safely! Lovey is a maiden
mare so we will be watching her carefully. Then Ginger is carrying the last
of our “resident” Eldorado foals for this year, so we still have some
anxious times ahead, and there is only 2 days “Due date” between Ginger and
Lovey! We do now have our little gadget to switch cams back and forth
automatically, so once that in installed you will see both cams throughout
the day and night flick back and forth on both mares. If a mare is
uncomfortable, and we need to watch her more, we will manually over-ride it
and keep an eye on that mare. SO Ponycam watchers, countdown to the next
one!!!
April 10th
– Sorry all for the lack of news, but it
has been MANIC around here – I love busy but dislike manic!!! Anyway, our
foals are growing up so quick and I am so pleased with them. Barnaby is
quite the little show off and I have offered him for sale for a stallion
prospect. He is going to be SO hard to let go because he is quite the “Mr
Popular” around here!! Penny is SO adorable, such a little sweetheart. She
too is for sale, which I am reluctant to do with any of these babies-and if
any of you know me it won’t be a surprise when you hear me say that. She has
this most exquisite head, and beautiful big eyes – so girly! Phoebe is just
huge, definitely a palomino, loooong legs and blonde mane and tail, very,
very typey for a cob. She has great movement and I have no doubt she will be
as big as her dam, Megan. I am having so much fun with these three and to
think I have 4 others to come – YIPEE!
Puff is our next lady in waiting and will be over at the foaling stall
within a week or two. She is starting to fill her udder and does have the
“swallowed a beach ball” effect going on. She is HUUUUGE! This foal is so
long awaited so I want loads of good thoughts our way for this baby. I have
waited about 4 years for this cross to be born! I will post more updates on
her as soon as we get more developments and will let you all know when she
will be in Lexie & Penny’s foaling stall.
As most of you know my good friend Lisa has been here from the UK for 2
weeks. Unfortunately she goes home tomorrow, but she has had a great time
and been in the midst’s of the manic, so I think she knows why I don’t get
much sleep between foalings! It will be good to see her back on the message
board, which needs to be more active – C’MON PONYCAM WATCHERS, WE WANT MORE
CHAT!!!
Lastly, our good friends Sally & David Waters, who are our “official”
professional equine photographers, from the UK will be out again from April
18th. We are hoping to get some wonderful (as usual) pics of our foals,
stallions, mares and much more. We enjoy their company SO much and are great
people to work with, so we are looking forward to all that! The website will
then be updated with their photos soon after.
I will update more soon!
March 26th – Penny and Lexie had their mare and foal check today and they passed with flying colors! She seems to be so advanced, already speeding around the pasture, and she has grown so much already. He long legs just seem to be getting longer. She has such a sweet face, pretty dished head, and such a “girly” look about her with her long eye lashes! I will get more photos soon of her all fluffed up. I think she will be a dark bay because when you part the hair it is really dark underneath, so we’ll see.
Whilst the vet was out he checked a few other ponies for us including Puff. She is due from April 24th and she has no udder development at all, so we wondered if the foal had died. So he palpated her (internally) and felt the baby live and kicking. He also ultra sounded her and we saw the foals eye, but it is obviously so big now we couldn’t see anything else. He then had to undo the caslick ready for birth and she will be off of her regumate medication from April 4th, ready for countdown. I’m sure she will build her udder over the next month so I’m trying not to worry, but after all the ups and downs we have had with her, how can I not!
Ginger and Lovey are working on their udders and seem to be gearing up for the last month of their pregnancy. They will more than likely be on time, they seem to be ticking along very nicely!
Lastly in the month of May we won’t just be watching Puff, Ginger and Lovey but we were asked to foal out a Paint mare for a friend of our vets also. She will be arriving around her 320 day mark which will be the same sort of time as our 3. So we will be frantically scrubbing stalls in May and we will be doing A LOT of ponycam watching. So 4 mares due to foal in May then it will just be Pearl in August – PHEW!!!
DRUMROLL PLEASE……
Her name is: JADEHANNA CASINO ROYALE aka “Penny” after Miss Money-Penny out of the James Bond film!
THANK YOU to everyone who emailed me name suggestions, we have kept them for any other babies that come along. We now need to think of names for Puff’s, Gingers & Lovey’s foals, those crosses for name suggestions can be found on the 2007 FOAL Page.
March 23rd – Lexie is 331 days today!!
Her temperature is going up and down at the moment and she is totally
relaxed, everywhere!! Her udder was very tight las
