We will try and keep you updated with news and winning achievements of the ponies at Jadehanna Ranch.

News and Winning Achievements of 2004

**  A HAPPY NEW YEAR **

to all of my Family, Friends and clients of Jadehanna Ranch, we wish you all a very successful 2005 !

December 30th - Honey is moving along today, the foal seems to have moved back towards her quarters and down so she has quite a bulging belly now. She is still bagging up nicely and she's starting to look a bit uncomfortable and resting alot. Her maternity suite is done and looks VERY comfortable, I think she's looking forward to the extra fluffy bed ! We have now started 9 o'c checks to give her a small feed. She seems to manage three small feeds better than 2 fairly large ones, so at 9 o'c we will do this and give her a final check over to make sure she is comfortable for the night. As she gets closer to foaling we will stay up with her to monitor her through the night.
Will update you all again soon.

December 29th - We have been "nesting" today at the Ranch. Kathie (my mum) and I have been clearing, cleaning and scrubbing the foaling stall. Mats, walls and floors have been scrubbed and discenfected ready for Honey to move in. The mats are drying and will be arranged in the stall tomorrow, then the straw will go in. Everything has to be "germ free" for the new baby to arrive. Honey has been moved into her temporary accomodation stall for tonight but will enjoy the comfort and extra room of her maternity suite tomorrow....Counting down the days now !!

December 28th - Only about 2 weeks before we think Honey will foal. Her udder has filled quite considerably since the last update and she is enjoying her large feeds and the extra grooming ! Her coat is shiny and healthy and she is blooming and we are all looking forward to meeting our new "baby".
Our barncam camera is done and we are so pleased with it as the picture is so clear, so at least we can watch her in a warm house and know that she is ok, but we can get there in time if she needs us.
My friend Lisa's flights have been booked so we will see her next week and I'll enjoy having the extra help around the Ranch ! She loves to visit the Ranch and we love to have her here as she is such a hard worker and loves the horses as if they are her own...so we're counting the days,Lisa !!!

December 19th - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bethany !! My daughter is 9 years old today and she has had a great day, opening pressies and playing her new games on her new Nintendo DS and on her new games on her old playstation. So I'm pleased she had a great day !

As for Ranch News - Honey is doing well and her barncam camera is now ready to be installed. It should be done within a day or two so I can watch her on a regular basis through the night. She looked to have some waxing this morning but her udder isn't as full as would like it, so we are making regular visits to the pasture to check on her. She has definatly slowed down and I see her resting in the field alot - not grazing, just resting that huge belly of hers, but she is still happy and content and enjoying the extra attention....I'm just looking forward to seeing the new foal healthy and bouncing around !  Will give you another update on her soon.

All the other ponies are doing well. They regularly have rugs on at night indoors or out as the temperature does drop - yes it does get cold in Florida !
The foals are growing and can you believe that Jadehanna Eldiosa is nearly a year old - time does fly. They are all very hairy, but enjoying the cooler weather.
Will post some more updates as soon as they happen.

14th December - Honey is now about 4-6 weeks away from foaling and her udder is filling nicely. She had her pedicure with the farrier today and she'll be all trimmed up and her tail washed ready for the big event. The barn cams arrived today and will be installed by the end of the week. Also my friend Lisa is on stand-by, and we're ready to book the flights - we aren't missing this one Lisa !! Will update you more soon !!

December 7th - We are looking for a small, young experienced rider to help break, school and compete our ponies for us in the Performance ring in Open and Welsh Shows next year. We have several Section A's that are now ready thr be brought on and excel in this discipline. We would preferably like the rider to ride English but have have some horses and ponies that are ready to go Western too...Any questions or enquiries please email me at jhranch@cfl.rr.com.

December 1st - We would like to Welcome Amanda to Jadehanna Ranch. She is helping us with the general running of the evening shift her at the Ranch. She is a neighbour who is helping with feeding, grooming and other duties...Everything helps !!

November 28th - Today we have been working hard on the "Nursery Pasture". This was the last pasture to have fences fixed, gates re-adjusted and debris removed from the Hurricanes. All the extra rails and posts are on order and the grass has had a final "chop", so once the posts and rails are in it will be "Baby Safe". Honey will be testing it out with her maternity pasture buddy "Puff" in a couple of weeks.

November 26th - We are about 6-8 weeks away from our first foaling now. Honey could foal anywhere between Jan 7th-27th, her belly has popped out and she is truly blooming ! She has had her last Rhinobort vaccination and vet check so we are offically on countdown. At this time of year the temperatures do drop at night so she will be wearing her PJ's soon to keep her and baby warm. We are also getting ready to install a barn cam, so hopefully we won't be sitting in the tack room in the cold, we can monitor her in the comfort of my own home and get to her in time. We will update you on her progress in the coming weeks....

We hope All Americans had a great Thanksgiving yesterday, we certainly did with many Family and Friends joining us in a Thanksgiving Feast. Thanks to Mum and Dad for hosting it and providing plenty of food & drink !.

30th October 2004 - We attended the Halloween Open Show run by the Florida POA club this weekend. We took Northwind Caprice and her filly Garden Gate Giggles 'n' Grins. Both did extremely well! Here are the results:

Northwind Caprice - 1st in Open Mares 3yrs & over (51' & under)
2nd in Leadline (Megans 1st show with her) WELL DONE MEGAN !!!
Garden Gate
Giggles 'n' Grins - 4th in Open Fillies under 2 yrs

We all had a great time and were really pleased with our results.

13th October 2004 - We have a few things to mention on this update: Firstly I must send my CONGRATULATIONS to my good friend in the UK Philippa Porley
(Monivea First Gold's breeder) as she took her beautiful coloured gelding to HOYS (Horse of the Year Show) where he won his class. His name is Monivea Magic Rainbow and he was ridden to Victory by Jessica Lewis, so Well Done to all of you, we are so proud of you all - CLICK HERE for photos of them.

Also, we had some visitors on October 9th. They were breeders from Maryland - Joan and Ernest Freimiller. They had a look around the Ranch and got to see all of the Welsh's & Co. I am so pleased we could get to meet them finally and please come again soon !

Megan finally got to ride Northwind Caprice. After all of the hurricanes we just didn't get time but as paddocks have dried up a little we finally got to manage it. They rode like a dream and have finally made that bond that I wanted for them. Megan is now riding her regularly and I am hoping to get them to the Open November Show. Our other new resident Garden Gate Giggles n' Grins (Caprice's foal) has also settled well. She is an absolute sweetie and I am hoping to get her to the Open Show for the foal class in November too.

We have only about 12 weeks before our first foaling is due. Thorncliffe Princess aka "Honey" is getting nice and round now and she is doing so well. She is in foal to our resident Section A stallion - Springbourne Eldorado. Now, Honey is notorious for giving me chestnut fillies so lets see if she does the same in January. She is a wonderful broodmare who has given me some outstanding foals and I have every hope that she will do the same for me again. I also have my Best Friend Lisa coming over from the UK to try and catch the birth, we won't miss it this time, Lisa !

26th September 2004 - We have now lived through our third hurricane....not funny any more ! There was alot of rainfall with Hurricane Jeanne and as we were just recovering from Hurricanes Charley and Frances, we were just so tired when Jeanne was confirmed that she was going to hit Central Florida. Jeanne dumped alot of rain on the region - about 10 inches, so lets hope things dry out quickly. My house is un-liveable but I still have email, thankfully ! I just hope there isn't anymore coming to Florida !!!
Also I would like to WELCOME my sister in law Karen and her wonderful family to Florida as they are officially now residents, we hope you enjoy it here as much as we do !...well without hurricanes !

7th September 2004 - We made it through Hurricane Frances !! Everyone was safe and once again (thankfully) there were no injuries and all the horses and ponies weren't stressed at all....Now, for my house - that wasn't so lucky. My family room is currently under water, my daughters room has huge wet patches in the ceiling and I had water pouring out of the kitchen lights - so not good ! We are staying with my parents until we can get things sorted out and/or our new house will be finished, so everyone is still ok and at least we all have a bed to sleep in !
The boards on the windows will be kept up because as you all may know we now have Hurricane Ivan heading towards Florida, and should be with us by the weekend, boy, we have really been hit this year ! The Hurricane Frances photos should be up on the Gallery soon under the Hurricane Charley photos.....

Also, I must wish my sister-in-law Karen a HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY, have a great day,sis and see you soon.

1st September 2004 - Well what can I say, it looks like we are getting the first double whammy of Hurricanes in history !
We are still clearing up after Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances is currently on her way to Florida as we speak as a Category 4 hurricane with winds upto 140mph and increasing !. It looks like on the news that we are once again in the "red zone" of being hit (and the red zone is NEVER a good zone to be in...ever), but it can fluctuate from now until Saturday. I'll be battoning down the hatches for the horses and ponies, buying fuel, conserving water just to get through the first few days with the ever expected no power or water.

So, please keep your fingers crossed and think of us on Saturday and and Sunday and I WILL try and keep everyone that emailed before up to date with what's going on, if I don't reply on email due to power loss and you really need to speak to me please try and call me on (+001) 407 361 7388.....hopefully-speak to you all soon...Kind Regards Caroline,Family & Ponies X

August 27th 2004 - We would also like to welcome Jadehanna El Encanto home. We collected him and he travelled well and he is now running around in the pasture with the other foals. We will be working with all the foals and hopefully we will get them all out to a show by the end of the year - updates on them will be put on this page.

August 2004 - We would like to welcome International Champion Section A Northwind Caprice and her 2004 chestnut roan filly foal by the 2 x top stallion of the USA Farnley Magic Flute to Jadehanna Ranch. Caprice will be a lead rein pony for Megan and her foal Garden Gate Giggles & Grins will be shown as soon as she can and will be an asset to this Ranch. Their pages will be up and running soon !

August 2004 - Our Gallery 7-Hurricane Charley photos have now been posted - the photos really don't show the devastation that this hurricane caused !

HURRICANE CHARLEY - This is the first update that I have been able to do since Hurricane Charley HIT us ! I think alot of Floridians really didn't expect him to hit and if he did, hit this hard !
We have had no power for 9 days and we have just been re-connected today...yipee, I don't know what was worse no A/C or no email ?!?
Anyway, we got through this with all horses, ponies, cats & dogs accounted for. There were no injuries, just one or two stressed ponies and time will sort that out. We had damage to ALL pastures and we were only able to put the horses back out after 2-3 days, and boy, were they pleased to go out. On the Section A's the water was up to their knees in some parts of the field but they seemed to enjoy the cool down.
We had alot of damage to trees including losing our 100+ year old oak tree, which was split in half, many pine trees and many trees fell onto our fencing, which was completed that afternoon BUT we can replace fencing. Our house also took alot of damage but again we are working on getting things back to normal as soon as we can.

I would just like to THANK all family, friends and colleagues for the help, support and thoughts that have been given to us at this time.
We have also been inundated with emails (which I have seen today and will reply to) and well wishers and we have come to realise that it takes something like this to truly realise who your friends are ! THANKYOU.

** Our photos of the damage will be posted soon on the Gallery **

** A HUGE Thanks to Lisa and Dean for helping me and the horses succeed this weekend - I couldn't of done it without you BOTH ! **
** Also another HUGE Thanks to Mum and Dad for looking after my "Girls" and the other horses and pets this weekend **

July 2004 - We have now purchased Springbourne Eldorado's very first colt. His name is Jadehanna El Encanto (The Charm) and he is a bay roan. We would like to Thank Clara Shepherd for letting us purchase him and name him ! He will be arriving at Jadehanna Ranch at weaning. We will keep you updated with photos, his new page will be up and running in a few days.

July 2004 - Some different news - We are in the process of purchasing an International Champion mare named Northwind Caprice. She is a bay Section A mare that will be ridden in Welsh and Open shows by Megan. Then after Daisy (hopefully) has her foal, Megan will be back on her and back into the POA circuit. We will then breed Caprice to Eldorado. She has excellent bloodlines and all details will be on the website soon. Photos of her can be seen on the MARES page.

July 2004 - We again have good news and bad news today - The good news is that Rosmels Cream Puff (we think) in fact had a cyst and not twins and the vet has confirmed that this shouldn't effect her carrying the baby that she is in foal with at the moment. She will be again re-scanned in 1 month to make sure the little guy or girl is doing fine and the pregnancy is going well.

The bad news is that Daydreaming Daisy is not in foal due to quite a nasty uterus infection. So she has had a shot to bring her into heat again and on her first day of heat she will be flushed out with anti-biotics and then re-bred back to Eldorado. If she doesn't fall pregnant we will leave her and breed her the beginning of next year....sometimes these mares just aren't ready to have babies - so once again fingers crossed !

July 2004 - I am pleased to say that not only Lisa will be helping me for a couple of weeks whilst my Mum has her operation on her knee but I also have my old friend Natasha Hawker coming out to help. We haven't seen each other in 5 years and our parents are the best of friends. She will be staying with us for 2 weeks to help around the Ranch with the horses and other animals. She will be exercising them and cleaning out and bathing etc, so we should have some good fun and a good laugh ! Thanks Natasha for arranging the time off to help !

July 1st 2004 - We have Good news and Bad news today:
The Good news is that Rosmel's Cream Puff has been confirmed pregnant by our Springbourne Eldorado, but the Bad news is that she is pregnant with TWINS !
She basically double ovulated and both ovulations fertilized. So she will have another scan next week (9th) to see if she has re-absorbed the smaller of the two, if not, unfortunatly we will have to get our vet to abort one. Some of you may think this is harsh, but the statistic is 1 in 10,000 mares have a successful LIVE twin birth. If she kept both the foal's there is a 70% chance that we could lose all 3 !
We now just hope that if this "Pinched" procedure works, is that "Puff" keeps the other foal as there is a risk we will lose that too, so please all keep your fingers crossed for her !
** Daydreaming Daisy will also have her scan on the same day - we will update you on the outcome of both mares **

July 2004 - My very good friend Lisa from the UK is planning to visit us and to attend the TN Gold Show end of July. I am so looking forward to seeing her again, she keeps me busy and we have a really good time ! She and her family have also booked to visit in December for Christmas and to hopefully see out first 2005 foal born...We can't wait, Lisa !!!

June 2004 - Please also check out some more show photos that have been added in the Our Champion's - Show Photos Gallery !

June 2004 - Misty Mountain Megan has now joined Colne Hollywood (Asti) at Ken Najorka's place for some training. She will be there for 2 weeks to learn halter training ready for her Gold Show in TN on 31st July / 1st August.
Asti is doing well on his training and he will be there for another 30 days, and then he would of completed 60 days training. He will then come home for a while and then return for his last leg of training which will be the last 30 days to complete the full 90 days. All the time he is triaining our Megan who is 5 years old is having lessons on him 4 times a week, and she is gaining confidence and experience with him.
Misty Mountain Megan will then return to training after her Gold Show to be broken in to be ridden. She will complete the 90 days course, we will let you know how they both get on.

June 2004 - Our website has been updated yet again, so have a look through and check out our new "Pally" page and our updated 2005 Foal photos !

June 2004 - Colne Hollywood (Asti) is now at his temporary new home for 30 days as he is starting his training with Mr.Ken Najorka in St.Cloud. He will be taught to ride, drive, bend and flex etc. So we hope he gets on really well. I am able to see him when I want so I can see how he is improving - GOOD LUCK ASTI !
After Asti has completed his training we will be sending Misty Mountain Megan, then Springbourne Eldorado and finish this year with Ravenshead Alcemy.

May 2004 - We attended a Memorial weekend (3 day) show this weekend at Clarcona Horsemans Park in Apopka, ran by the Florida POA Club. Saturday was an Open Show and Sunday and Monday were POA Shows.

I would just like to say that it was a very successful weekend and we brought home an amazing 10 ribbons and I really couldn't of done all of this without Dean, Mum and Dad's help. It was very tiring but well worth it !

Also I would like to Congratulate my Mum on her wins this weekend. It takes a lot of guts and confidence to step into a show ring and she didn't let me down. I was so proud of you, Mum !!
PHOTO'S CAN BE SEEN ON THE SHOW CHAMPION PAGE IN THE GALLERY

May 25th - Today "Anna's Rejoyce" had her her foal by "Springbourne Eldorado". It was a colt foal that was born bay. We would like to congratulate Anna, Clara and her family on her new addition !
Check him out on the FOAL page.

MAY 2004 - I would just like to Thank and Congratulate "Jadehanna's Magic Dragon's" new owner, my Mum,Kathie. I am sure he will do you proud in the show ring and I am pleased that he will be joining our breeding program here at Jadehanna Ranch !

May 10th 2004 - RosmelsCream Puff had a fabulous dark dun, black or bay COLT this morning. He was a real surprise as we thought he was going to be a filly, but I am soooo pleased with him. We have named him "Jadehanna's Magic Dragon" aka "Magic" after the song "Puff the Magic Dragon ". He will be on the FOALS page very soon.

May 5th 2004 - It's my Birthday today and my husband, Dean bought me a surprise gift - A palomino Section D Welsh Cob. Her name is  " Misty Mountain Megan ", which my daughter loved, what with her name being Megan too ! She stands at about 15hh and still growing, she is 2 1/2 years old, and is an absolute darling and greets me every morning. She will be going to a professional trainer in Orlando at the end of the year and may be bred to one of our resident stallions in 2005.
I would like to "Thank" Dean for "Megan" and my Mum, Dad and Lisa for supporting me in my business and for keeping the surprise secret ! I REALLY had no idea !

*** Check out photos and details of "Misty Mountain Megan" on the mares page soon ! ***

April 2004 - Due to the high demand we have had for Eldorado this year and as his stud book is now full, we have decided to open up 1 more month (June), so please book as soon as you can so we can try and fit you all in ! Thank you.

APRIL 2004 - We are now 1 week away from Rosmel Cream Puff's due date. She has filled up considerably and her muscles are starting to relax around her tail and quarters. She seems quite contented at the moment and enjoying the extra attention.

The next update will be when she delivers...Good Luck Puff !

APRIL 2004 - We have only 2 spaces left in Springbourne Eldorado's stud book for 2004. If you would like a breeding to this fabulous stallion, please email us on Jhranch@cfl.rr.com.
As soon as these spaces are filled his book will be closed and we will re-open it for the 2005 season

APRIL 2004 -
We are now 2-3 weeks away from Rosmels Cream Puff's delivery of her new foal. She has her straw bed ready and she is filling up nicely. She has had a few uncomfortable days the last few but I think she still has a week or so, we will update you if anything changes or if our new baby arrives.

APRIL 2004 - We attended an Open Show ran by the FLPOA Club this weekend (10th April).
Daydreaming Daisy came 1st in her Mares @ halter 51" and under class and then Megan came 3rd in the Leadline, Well Done Megan !.
We also took Ima Painted Lark - Oscar, just so he can have some experience at shows and he behaved impeccably. He stood in 2 classes, one having 18 entered and the other having 20 entered and he was very good, we were really pleased with him. Now we will be getting him ready for some shows this year !

APRIL 2004 - We are 4-5 weeks away from our 2nd foal to arrive by our palomino mare Rosmels Cream Puff. We think that she may go a little early as she is, well how do I put this, HUGE !!! She is just starting to fill up and ready to "pop". We will update you on her progress in the next couple of weeks.

MARCH 2004 - It was confirmed today by our vet Dr.Walters that Thorncliffe Princess is back in foal to Springbourne Eldorado. This is a very exciting re-breeding as she had a phenominal foal by Eldorado this year and we look forward to their 2005 foal !

MARCH 2004 - We attended a POA weekend show this weekend March 6th/7th.
The first being on SATURDAY which was an ALL BREED OPEN SHOW.
We at last minute plucked Springbourne Eldorado out of the field, bathed him and showed him in Stallions 51" and under which he came1st in. The he went on to win Reserve Grand Champion Stallion of Show !
Then we showed Daydreaming Daisy in Mares @ halter 51" and under which she came 2nd in.
Then she came 6th in a very large color class with (at last minute) my mum (Kathy Lacey-Freeman) WELL DONE MUM !
Then finally we went into Leadline with Megan and she came 1st out of 7 leadliners, which was excellent....WELL DONE MEGAN !

Then on Sunday was a POA Show.
Daydreaming Daisy was entered in the Mares @ halter 51" and under which again she came 1st in.
Then we had one of our friends take Daisy into the color class as a treat for helping us so much. Her name is Rebekah Stought who is 10yrs old and it was her first show, she came 7th out of once again a huge class WELL DONE REBEKAH !
Then Megan went on to do the leadline and came 2nd, which was great.
She was then presented with Daisy's National Small Mares @ Halter award which she had won on last years points thanks to Afton Newton.

FEBRUARY 2004 - The Southern Welsh Association (2003) End of Year Points are in and : Springbourne Eldorado has won the CHAMPION SECTION A @ halter. We had a great year in 2003 and although Eldorado is having a year off to be broken into harness, saddle and to carry out his studly duties you may still see him at the odd show.
We are so proud of him !!

FEBRUARY 2004 - We have now chosen a name for our new beautiful filly " Jadehanna Eldiosa " her page with updated photos will be up and running soon.

JANUARY 19th 2004 - Well, our first Eldorado foal arrived 2 weeks early...but what a surprise ! We had a beautiful filly, born chestnut but may go palomino, she hasn't decided yet, and she is yet to be named, but we will let you know as soon as we do....You can check her out on the FOALS PAGE.

** We have our other mare Rosmel's Cream Puff due the first week of May, we will let you know how she is nearer the time.**

JANUARY 2004 - We now have the POA 2003 point standings for Daydreaming Daisy and she came 1ST in the Small Mares @ Halter 4yr Old and over 46-51" NATIONALLY !.
We are so proud of Daisy and even though we have only had her for a while we hope to do just as well this year !

JANUARY 2004 - Well Honey (Thorncliffe Princess) has only 2 weeks to go and she has been checked by the vet today who thinks (like Me) that she will foal a week early. She has done this on her two previous foals, so we'll have to wait and see. She's got to hold on until at least Saturday 24th as that's when my two friends arrive, and they can't miss it !  She is blooming and in such good health and enjoying the fuss and extra attention....hang in there Honey only 1 more week !

JANUARY 2004 - We have had the final WPCSA 2003 results through for Springbourne Eldorado and he has finished 9th Nationally !
We are so proud of him as this was his first year showing as a Senior and the first time showing in the USA.
He has done exceptionally well considering that he only went to ONE Gold Show and missed the last two Regional Shows (due to me being ill).
Eldorado is an amazing Stallion and he has made my job so easy showing him off !

JANUARY 2004 - Honey is still hanging in there, with only 3 weeks to our Champion baby arrives !
Her udder is filling nicely and she seems to be enjoying the extra attention, will keep you updated.

JANUARY 2004 - We are looking forward and extremely excited for January for the expected arrival of Thorncliffe Princess' (Honey) and Springbourne Eldorado's first foal.
We will give you regular updates this month on how her final 4 weeks of pregnancy are coming along and when she delivers we will let you all know.
In January we also have the arrival of my two very good friends Jo and Lisa, they will be arriving on March 24th to hopefully see the birth, lets hope Honey can hang in there until then !
